What happened to all the wonderful little fix fix patches

Seemed like there was a fair bit of momentum leading up to CES, as was expected with the big release, but now that has passed, we've had a hotfix, which although appreciated, shouldn't have been required, and then we've gone dark and cold ..

I was loving the little fix fix fix releases that were trickling out. ( weekly betas or thereabouts ) It seemed really responsive.

  • Is the plan to get a stable stable out in the wild and then build on that ? ( its that what is taking the time now the CES pressure is off ?? )
Is the plan to go now to Beta as the stable is out ?
Is the plan to Improve the stable then continue with the Beta's ?
Is the plan to start building 5 without releases and then release it with HC3 ?
Basically .. What is the plan !?!?!

I'm heading off fishing in a couple of days for a couple of weeks, It would be nice to come back and actually have some pathway defined. I'm hoping by then there will be a more stable version as well, and then we can get back into the betas

My alternatives have been decided, I just want to know which way to jump

Really appreciate any feedback that can be shared with us. I understand it is difficult, but just some generalised inspirational targets would go a long way..

I am sorry to say, but you probably will never get an answer from this company. Why? They just simply doesn't care about their customers. That's all

toox, Yeah, I don't expect one, but it's like those open letters to the editor, you assume someone might read it and respond ! I'm sure they do care about their customers, and they are OK all things considered... They have put up with a lot on this forum, certainly deservedly at times, and undeservedly on occasions, they have also let us all have pretty free reign to say what we want, which is a pretty ballsy move, and I admire them for it, I certainly would be moderating a lot tighter..

It must be very hard to say something and be hounded for it as every one of us has a different wish list, or massive high's massive lows list, so we see say horstmann things being fixed, but we use danfoss things, or we use netatmo to close our windows, but the plug in breaks and it's chaos or we have sensors that we can't change polling on and it's annoying as all hell, or the documentation still lags massively, or what did work gets broken ... some of these things can be life shattering for me and means headaches, and pissing around for hours, but maybe not so much for you .... then if they say something that suggests something important to you will be fixed, but it doesn't work, then you have an outburst of a vocal few, so sometimes maybe it's better to stay quiet, and keep everyone a little bit pissed off instead of polarising a group into being angry...

I noticed a big improvement in communication when the UK boys were on here, and that made me wonder if language is a bit of a barrier, i'm sure some things get taken out of context due to miscommunication.

All that aside, I just want to know a plan so I can plan ( again it's all about me

Pretty please fibaro, with Jabol on top ..

    Cheers,

4-5 months investing thousands of dollars into Fibaro, I am kind of disappointed at the culture and guiding principles (if any) of Fibaro.

There is clear lack of SOA for software development and the default impression/response from support appears to be "serious denial of bugs until strong proofs of bug indeed exists".

Sad...Maybe I should have chosen a platform which is less "cosmetically" nice but focus more on stable and functional, not one which constantly feels like "beta" or "alpha" testing.

chaicka, I see the problem as, contrary to what others may mention, there are very few, I'll go so far as to say no, systems out there that are better out of the box.

Certainly if you want to devote your life to developing HS3, or some of the open source options, even the mac only solutions, you can develop a kick arse system, but you could technically develop an even better system on the Fibaro platform, lets face it, it's sleek, when it works, it works well, it has plenty of power under the hood, it's all the good stuff in a nice shiny box .. I would have moved on many times over, the money doesn't really bother me, it's the time, and the understanding I have of HC2 that i can't transplant to another system, besides, they keep fixing little bits, and occasionally you get the sense of just how brilliant this could be .. no buyers remorse this end, just a bit of frustration that needs to vent occasionally ..

The problem we all have, I feel, is that we don't have all the basics working solidly enough to enable us to develop the system as you would with the others, but if we did, it would soon be the system to own, and we are all clever enough to have jumped on board early .. I'm assuming that is what Fibaro are diligently working away at now, although we don't really know .. ..

Imagine once we can start poking out plugins how much versatility we can stuff into that little box, some of the talent that visits this forum alone, without thinking about the other forums that are even more focused on development, sheesh ! the world is our oyster .. one day ..

Well summarise. The breaking of the basics is rather frustrating and I would have better spend the time fixing and reporting the basics on more advance stuffs like scripting and putting more intelligence into the investment.

The bitter taste of 'rush to release just because of marketing (CES)' with v4.x really sinks on impression. Even my supplier is facing the heat from his customers whom he sold z-wave electronic locks ahead of the v4 release. But now keep having to tell customers to hold or add a temporary Vera just for the lock to integrate with the Fibaro ecosystem.

Overall, as a consumer, I expect this Fibaro home automation to compliment our lives and help make it even better. Now, it seems to be the opposite as I spend more time looking at event log and figure out what went wrong. I hope in a year's time, Fibaro can be similar to what Apple has done for my household - compliment our lives and make it better, giving us more time to be spend with family rather than fixing broken things. I am glad to have build up an Apple ecosystem and I hope I can feel the same way with Fibaro in a year's time.

YES PLEASE. If a bug like Netatmo is fixed release that fix. It's fixed since quite some time.

Oh Oh, I am sorry but it is so much were and when did I see this kind of discusions before.

Every now and than people start figuring out that Fibaro is screwing them and post it on this forum. And then you will get the people saying no no that isn't true. Just wait and see it is gone be great.

Funny thing is the people who told me on this forum I shouldn't be so negative are not posting any raving and positive post. I wonder why

Trust me - there is no new z-wave Engine. Why is the polling still not working or should I say swicth on. It is just version 3.59 whith a plugin engine. Whow that is exiting

Dino, I hear what you are saying, and I've been on both sides of the complaining and praising fence .. currently in a praise phase .. might just be because I'm going on holidays .. anyway, I think some encouragement and positivity might be a new path to try. I'm not defending them, it's not my place to, all I want is a stable system so the likes of some of the clever nuts around here can force the system into genius mode. And so when I experiment with things I know that if they don't work it's my fault, not the boxes fault

chaicka, Agreed, but a much shorter time frame for me.

robmac, Thanks mate, Soccer is done, Cricket got a bit predictable, so .. off to the head of the Bight, fishing at the dogfence, camping on the beach for a couple of weeks with the lads ..

alandee, have a good vacation/break... I hope I get my share of long break in two weeks' time. Been too rough over the last 1.5 years without a good break. Hope the HC2 does not act up during the break else my ears won't have peace.

    +1 for this

having a lot of scenes with push notifications and all of them are not sending push not.

Alan I hope by the time you get back, your 8 week window will be closed and you will move to a real Z-Wave solution. Of course the hot fixes have stopped, the trade show is gone, you probably won't get much until CEDIA 2015 unless there are some other big trade shows I am missing. It probably wouldn't do any harm to find out where Fibaro will be at next trade show and setup a Boycott Fibaro stand right beside them. I guarantee it will have more people than the Fibaro stand.

Hmm, download device templates is the beginning of an interesting feature ..

Just back and blinking light made me update, minimote working ? cool, templates for devices ? cool, netatmo working ? cool, the beginnings of a few fixes here and there cool ..

I'll stick around with HC2 for a little while longer and see where this goes... they keep doing this to me though...

I've been using Fibaro HC2 for more then 2 years until I have finally said to myself enough is enough. In December I have started migration to Indigo and now I spend more time just  having fun with the system then moaning on Fibaro ...

I still have HC2 which I have put in my country house with 4 devices connected to it, no scenes, plugins etc because that's what HC2 is build for. Simple nice looking system for remote control but not for a serious home automation.

I agree that in HC2 you have nice interface out of the box but other then that there are more issues then advantages.

On the other hand if someone doesn't like to design and build his own front end for iOS devices - Indigo is not a good option.

I did it and I'm very happy (my wife also finally

There are fixes being released! I admit it is as a damn slight slower pace than it took them to break simple functionality but they are coming out! I actually could not giving flying * about fibaro or its software/hardware anymore hence the lack of postings from me... i pop on read the bad news and move on!

I hope they go bust... sincerely I have already lost my investment they should just admit defeat and let the next big name take there place!

Good luck folks! If your awaiting plugin fixes then you will be more than happy with the next release... xbmc translation fix must of took them a week to resolve alone!

I feel sorry for the lot of you as my system on 4.x has been rock solid for quite a while...I'm guessing the LUA or something you are doing is causing most of your grief.

    Best of luck...
