RGBW and input mode

Ok, it seem that the RGBW does not quite do what i want. I want one button to be able to change between different colors on the RGB. SO, what would happen if i configured channel 4 as a momentary switch could i monitor the state change in Lua and use that to push new values to the RGB channels? Or, could i define channel 4 as 0-10V input and simply hook the switch via the 12V supply? (I assume the circutry could handle that?)
