Cannot log in anymore to HC2

Question

Posted

Hello forum,

I had a small issue with not correct displaying the event history. Support told me to reboot the HC2 which I did from the Web Interface. It rebooted smoothly and then I wanted to log in but this didn't work anymore. So I clocked on "Forgot my password" (even when I really didn't forget this password at all) and got a new one. Ok, * happens. So I put this new password for the admin user in and I got the same: The form just shows up again, no "you have enterd wrong credentials" or so, just displaying.

For the more techy people: It looks like the form didn't submit all the credentials and therefore the form just display "virginly" again. So there might be a solution in faking the form from another http server. Anyway, added to the ticket but it's weekend. On Monday two people will visit me to let me show the HC2. And bad as this is, it is for business, so it is so horrible important to me get access again to the HC2.

Big question: Do you get any information when entering wrong credentials on your login screen? Or do you just get the login screen back?

Please login or register to see this attachment.

This is what I get. As a last resort I pulled the power cord. It booted (phew!) but the result is the same. Nevertheless the device seems to operate. My lights, hue, netatmo, sonos and all the stuff is working.

Hope you can help. If not just send me a beer, this is also appreciated now

I do get instances where wrong credentials just direct me back to the same login screen without prompting me that I've entered wrong credentials.

Hi MalvinYNJ Yes - I get the message "error - incorrect password or username"

Im using the default at the moment "admin" and "admin". I considered I may have changed the password and simply forgot I did. So I used forget password. Entered admin and clicked generate. Nothing.

Ive cleared the cache used both explore and Chrome. Same result

Even Fibaro Finder isnt finding my HC2 I have to type thre IP in the browser address bar. A few times the waiting circle displayed for over 2 minutes....closed browser typed IP again and the login dialogue arrived.

All my trouble seemed to start directly after I was setting up a Gateway for remote access. The system asked me for my HC2 IP, then I clicked Add, then it asked for my user name password and then pin number.

The waiting circle came up and Ive had these issues since.

Any ideas?

I see I have been pretty silly to have thought that remote access has anything to do with "Gateways"

After reading this fine gentleman's post:

It appears I may have self referenced my HC2 by using its IP - I am going to try re-allocating another IP on my router for the HC2.

I will update this post afterwards..wish me luck!

Well all day and nothing!

Placed the HC2 into recovery mode, direct connect to static IP...same problem. Unable to login

Is there a factory default button swith or something anyone please?

Seriously?! The manual refers to the "recovery" which I have been doing all day. If you know anything more than "read the manual" be appreciated if you would share with a newbie. If its in the "Advanced Users" manual (the only manual)  I certainly cant find it?

The HC2 is presently set to the factory default IP address.

I dont mind loosing all my setup and starting again....is there a way please?

Controller does not require any password when in recovery, hence if you were asked to enter one, it was not recovery mode. First thing is the browser: IE sometimes gives this result. If it is not the case you can ask support to help you with recovery procedure.

Thanks all....a very helpful support person Johnny in New Zealand emailed me the combination to bring my HC2 back to factory default and I am now off and running again.

It has left me a little shell shocked that a user can from the menu bring the system to a halt like that...but the HC2 is akin to say a router...be warned mess with things you dont have a clue about and it will bite!

Can you share the combination?

As the HC2 is booting LED lights flashing left to right press the recovery button on the back and the lights start flashing in opposite direction. Once booted will be in recovery web page. From there you can do everything including erasing everything which is what i wanted.
