I have a Universal Binary Sensor FGBS-001.  It shows up in the HC2 as two motion sensors.  Can it be changed to show up as a switch in the HC2 interface?  If so how do I set this?

Thanks

For it to work as a switch you need to set it as door or window sensor under "Device kind".

What interesting things have you managed to achieve with the fibaro binary sensor, and not the boring stuff that comes in the operation manual

i have just purchased my 1st tiny device and looking for a challenging little project

I have changed the the device kind to a door switch but it still asks to arm or disarm in the HC2 interface.  I would like it to work as an on/off switch.  Is this possible?

What do you mean exactly? It's a sensor not a switch and when used as a door switch it can be armed/disarmed as it can be part of the alarm setup. You can only detect the state of the inputs and read the temperature sensors if you some attached to it. The outputs reflect the state of the inputs and cannot be used for loads higher than 150 mA and are meant to for instance connect to an alarm system using the UBS as the sensor interface and for state delivery to the alarm system.

Thank you for your reply.  I was intending to use this sensor in several applications. one of which is to identify when a door is open or closed, then activate a scene.  I was also hoping to activate the scene myself from within the HC2 interface by pressing the arm/disarm buttons instead of going into the scenes to run it.  My problem is it asks for a PIN code to disarm it.

I'm having a nightmare with this universal sensor.  I have changed the device kind to a door sensor and now its unresponsive.

I have deleted and re-included the device several times.  Sometimes I can change the device kind to a door sensor and it responds to open and close on IN1 ok, but if I then try to change the icon for another one in the list the device becomes unresponsive again I then will have to re-included the device. Other times it changes the icon but won't save it as it reverts back to the old icon when I go back to devices, again it then becomes un-responsive.

    Any ideas?

Sounds like a mix of hardware and software issues. I have two UBS in production and they're fine. First thing I'd do is check the power supply. Not only if it is within spec (9-30V DC ±10%) but also if it is stable and doesn't show excessive ripple (voltmeter on AC and result < 25 mV is certainly OK but > 200 mV is NOK or run it on a 9V battery for an hour or so (not longer - battery drain!) to see if that helps) . If it's a software issue, it may be introduced in 4.036 or 4.037. Mine were added some firmware releases back. I don't have a spare unit to test what happens when you add them to 4.037. And my last idea is to eliminate the HC2 from the chain... I hope yo can still add an association to your UBS. I have that in production too. I've associated a switch of the UBS to a wall plug, so that USB communicates directly, bypassing the HC2. See if we cal learn something from that...

    Good luck!

Thank you for your reply and suggestions.  I was hoping it was a simple as the PSU so I changed it for another PSU that I have but the fault is still apparent. I have even tried another UBS but still the same also. I agree it must be a firmware/software issue.

Is anybody able to test this for me on a HC2 with 4.037?

    Many thanks

I tried four different cheap, SMPS, power supplies before mine worked. They are quite sensitive to switching residuals so a linear supply is preferrable.

The second power supply I am now using has a stabilised output so i'm thinking its not a PSU issue.  If someone can confirm they can include the UBS on 4.037 and change the icons, then I know its unlikely to be a software issue.  The only last thing I could try is connect it to a car battery.

    Update

I emailed UK Fibaro support.  They called me today (Saturday) and remoted into my HC2, I showed them the problem I am experiencing.  He confirmed this is a small bug and advised he would add it to Bugzilla.  I have to say the support he gave me was second to none!

The problem can be recreated by doing the following -

    Click the 'Change Icon' button

Select the Door Icon (the icon with the white door step and white walls). Click on this icon once only and then click the blue save button on the RH toolbar. If you double click the icon (I have learned double clicking the icon is the correct way to change it) the fault does not occur.

Now if the fault is apparent you will see the UBS doesn't appear to respond in the HC2 interface!

It turns out the the bug causes the sensor to be unassociated with the HC2.

As you can see in this image Group 3 is blank!

If you then manual reassociate the sensors to the HC2 by clicking Group 3 and selecting the HC2 this addes the association back in and it all starts working again ok.  Image attached...

I hope this is useful to someone.

Thanks for sharing. I think this might explain some other issues, not related to UBS. I've seen associations disappear with my setup too, last one was a relay that didn't report status after I changed something. Had to remove association (because "1" was listed but clearly the situation demonstrated the relay thought otherwise) and associate it again. Now if I only could remember what caused it. Maybe it WAS changing the icon... I did a bunch of them.

    Hi,

I have a Powermax pro alarm system and connected the PGM, Ground and 12V ports to the Universal Binary Sensor (first 3 wires to the left).

The sensor does get power, because I was able to add this device to the Fibaro system.

According to the powermax manual it should send a signal upon 'Total Alarm on', 'Partial/zone alarm on' and Alarm off. The PGM port on the powermax

can be configured as On, Off, Pulse. I have not changed the default settings of parameters on the Binary sensor (no changes on NC, NO, Pulse settings).

When activating the alarm I do not see an event in the Event Panel, so somehow there is no signal or trigger.

Does anybody have experience on this?

    Would be highly appreciated.
