I received today an email saying that one of my door/window sensors has low battery (my own script reported it as 255). Briefly checked history (as I run batter checks daily) and yesterday battery was on 76%. Interesting I thought, but after coming back home I tried to remove the battery and re-insert several times with no success. Then I decided to shift battery with some other window sensor. What a surprise - both sensors went crazy and decided not to wake up despite hundreds of clicks of this f$%^&n button inside. Read through the forum and deleted and re-added one sensor - the one that was OK previously and had battery from the broken one. Of course after re-adding battery is again perfectly fine at 76% and sensor works fine.

The sensor that started the whole fun evening however, still does not work. I even removed it from the window and tried re-adding right next to HC2 - no way to get it added. To get rid of the low battery emails I deleted the device and now have a nice piece of s@#t which I cannot even add to HC.

Any ideas what else could I try? When buying fibaro I thought this system will serve me, but now it looks like I am the one who serves it fighting with malfunctioning devices and spending time discovering known issues which should have been fixed loooong time ago.

PS. Running the latest stable 3.600 with no plans of upgrading - if you say upgrade is the only way to go then I will have a cheap HC2 available for sale.

Just to add to the above one - I did try "reseting" the sensor as it was described in the manual multiple times.

Maybe there are alternative d/w sensors which work with fibaro HC2? I cannot imagine removing sensor each time the battery dies or running around the house with HC2 on a 50m ethernet cable.

Yet another update. After 70th attempt to re-add the window sensor when holding it 3cm away from HC2 suddenly it worked - sensor was added and battery is again almost full. Wonder how long it takes before something else breaks and I again spend evening with fibaro.

This doesn't fill me with great hope. I have a door sensor and have just changed the battery and fibaro is still emailing me that I need to change the battery!

Does it still report open/close? If it doesn't... did you change the battery with the door closed?

Yes changed the battery with the door closed and seems to work and report status perfectly fine...just the battery status. (temp as well by the way)

If battery reporting didn't come back to life by now, then probably one of the configuration options stored in the device is not OK. You could try several things but I'd go for the short route: exclude/include. I asked about the door because with the door closed it's possible to accidentally reset the device (the procedure is in the manual). It happened to me once.

Euh....how do you guys re-add the fibaro doorsensor when it is still in place and you need to close the cover and press the button at the underside ?? I have no problems with those devices whatsoever. Just wondering id there is a shortcut to re-including without having to remove the device from your door or window ?

I am not sure what's changed in 4.037 which seems improved range. I did exclude-include 3 x Fibaro door sensors last night without removing them from its door/window.

Remove cover, press on the battery (which effectively depresses the underside button), triple-click the inner tiny button whenever needed.
