Battery drain in Secure Thermostat SRT321

Question

Posted

I have several Secure Thermostats (SRT321) and the batteries drain very quickly, only 1-2 months before they need to be changed. I have rechargeable batteries so its not a big issue, but I still think they are draining fast. I use them with the heating panel to adjust the temperature up and down a few times a day, so I have them set to wake every 300 seconds so that the delay won't be more than 5 mins after HC2 sends a new temperature set point. Am I correct in setting it up this way or can I achieve the same level of temperature control using less power?

I am on firmware 3.6 by the way.

For me the wake up interval is set to 600 seconds. I have the SRT321 since end of November. My battery is (I guess) 75% full.

I always used the heating panel, until I upgraded to version 4, because it doesn't work as expected on version 4.

So I guess increasing the wake up interval would Improve battery life, although yours seems to drain more quickly than mine.

Yeah, I would expect mine mine to run out of power twice as fast, but if yours has only used 25% of the power since november, then I am not so sure what is wrong or maybe you have extremely good batteries....

I have had my SRT321 set to 900 s wake up and just allowed a little longer in my heating panel timings. This seems OK.

Ole      I see you have several srt321's!

Do you have them all controlling one receiver?

I have just added a Horstmann C-stat 11-zw  which is basically a programmable version of the srt321 with a lcd display rather than a dial and appears to work as the srt321 if ignoring the programmability.

However as soon as one of the two thermostats 'turns off' it turns my receiver off...and so turns the heating off!!   despite one of the thermostats still being 'on'

This of course is useless as as soon as one room reaches its set temperature, the heating turns off leaving the other room unable to reach its temperature.

Have you a different set up of did you solve this problem?

    Hi

Please login or register to see this link.

I use my thermostats to control fibaro wall plugs which in turn switches panel heaters on and off so I don't use receivers.

    Best regards

Well my batteries are the one shipped with the device. I guess yours are too?

I've checked the batterylevel with a script. It was not 75% but 71%
