Hello everyone,

I just received my HC2 and i'm about to power it up.

I have a few questions,

I bought some linear wall dimmer, in the manual, it say: This module must be “included in the Network” only where it will be permanently installed. The proper operation of this node in the mesh network is dependent on it knowing its location with respect to other nodes. You cannot “test bench” confi gure this module.

1-Is this true for any z-wave device? or only for Linear product? Can someone explain me more about it?

2-Does it mean that i also have to put my home center where it will be permanently install and not moving it after?

3-Can i install linear wall dimmer when i only have 2 wire coming from the light? (white and blue on the same wire?)

Thank you.

This is normally not a problem (at least with all of my devices) and you normally need to include the devices close to the controller and then install the module where it needs to be. I think it's part of the Z-Wave security protocol that any device needs to be in direct contact with the controller for it to be included. If you can't "Test bench install" as the manual suggest it's an epic fail in design IMHO.

That shouldn't matter either although you might need manual intervention to rebuild your network for it to work well.

If it's the WD500Z-1 (it's always a good idea to include a bit more information than the type and a part of the manufacturer name when you ask about a device) it seems it needs two wire installation i.e Live and Neutral are both needed. I'm not sure what you mean but I assume you have one wire coming in and one going out today. If that's the case it will not work as far as I've read the installation manual.

    Thank you for your reply,

Yes i forgot to mention it was a WD500Z-1

I have a questions about templates,

What do i have to do with the templates i downloaded?  I can't see any instruction about that.  DO i just sent it back to fibaro?   I guess i have to do something before?

If you have a valid template (not all zeros in the name) you can send that to support along with the device info and parameters that can be configured for the device and Fibaro will add them to a future release. Until full support is in place the thing to do is to manually add all the parameters with their desired values on the advanced tab.

    Thank you!

In the WD500Z-1 manual, it say to "reset unit" using controller,  But nowhere in the manual they say wich parameter to use...

Edit: may be i just didn't understand correctly( my english isn't perfect) and i just have to exclude it from the network to reset it?

"You must first “RESET UNIT” with your controller to remove it from the network.” "

All Confi guration commands will be reset to their default state when the WD500Z-1 is excluded from the Z-Wave network by using the controller to reset the node (on the Z-Wave select “SETUP” and scroll to “RESET UNIT”).

I have so many questions....  is there a complete manual somewhere? i just received a quick startup guide...

Could someone explain me the purpose of Slave and Master of devices?

    Examples, my WD500Z-1 showed here:

Is the master the switch and the slave the light?

I'd love to know what the master/slave thing is as well.

Is there a manual for the HC2 or any online help? I've just got my system running and whilst some of it is obvious, some of the parameter settings aren't.

    Hi,

You can ignore the master, just keep it in the unassigned room, or not displayed for the time being.. You're on the right track with the split, it's kinda the way Fibaro adds a device, and then determines what it is and how to interact with it.

The easiest access to library docs related to HC2 for starters is :

It's massively helpful in the beginning, then dive into

and see how you go ..  I'm just starting there now
