Hi guys,

Just installed some 2 x 1.5kw relays.  Finally got the HC2 to include them (didn't realise how quick you had to switch S1 to get it to include them!)

However - I get nothing when I click switch S2? I wondered if there was a parameter to enable S2 like the dimmers, but that doesn't seem to be the case unless I'm missing something?

I've checked the wiring - S2 input is going live when (momentary) S2 switch is pressed, but HC2 isn't picking it up - any ideas?

Try this... On the advanced page of the device, have a look at the heading "Associations". Check if all three groups show "1". If something is missing add it (1 means HC2), save, refresh browser. If nothing seems wrong... Remove HC2 from all three, save, refresh browser and again add, save, refresh browser.

Hmm everything shows as 1... Just tried removing it and re-adding as you suggested but no joy... No click from the relay, nothing

No click from the relay? Assuming you double-checked the wiring diagram and parameter 14 (switch type) is correct... It looks like a hardware issue. Although I think I heard of one case of unresponsive relay that was fixed by excluding, then resetting the relay (the procedure is in the manual). If the relay is stuck in the ON position it can also be a case of "welded" relay. You can check that by removing power from the relay but not from the load and establish if it's still on. In this case, gently tapping the module with the back of a screwdriver often dislodge the contact.

Parameter 14 seems to make no difference (it was working originally on S1 when it was set to the default toggle switch, even though I have momentary switches).

Flicking switch S2 does absolutely zero, but S1 works fine. I have set Parameter 14 correctly to momentary switch.

The relay isn't stuck - I can control it from the HC2 fine, it is just that the S2 input doesn't react at all :-s

I have wished for the functionality to decouple the switch input from the relay (in order to run code that uses some logic to switch the relay). As far as I know, this functionality does not exist, never existed. So there is no configuration option to disable S2. And... I'm running out of ideas. Maybe your S2 input is really damaged. Did you try the reset procedure that's in the manual?

Is that the 'hold down button B for 3 seconds' when powered up? If so - yep, already tried that.

I'll have another mess tomorrow evening, and will try swapping out for another relay.  I think I'm heading towards possible hardware fault, which would be weird but I guess not unheard of!

Thanks so much for your help

Just fyi incase anyone else has this issue - seems like a dodgy module. Swapped it it for another relay (one that I don't need 2 switches on!) and it works absolutely fine.

    Weird!

I did also have one in 10 that was unable to switch manually. Utilised it on a spot where I only really needed one switch, has operated fine like this for over 6 months now.

I have also had a dimmer fail 1 of 12 after about 2 months, same thing, all of a sudden can't switch, but can operate via HC2, also got a little hotter than the usual, so that was returned.

    Cheers,

    al.
