HTTPS / SSL secure connection option?

Question

Posted

The HCL is http/ port 80 only, is there a way to add a SSL certificate?

When you not want use home.fibaro.com and want to forward your gateway login page through you router then its only port 80 and that is insecure.

The Z wave protocol uses encryption but why no secure connection to your HC2/HCL?!?!?

Samplex, gateways are meant to work in a protected local network, so no need for encryption. Only advised alternative to our services is use of VPN.

what if you shouldn't trust everybody in your local network? how you are playing with guest in your wifi network? if you are using wifi with poor security because you have very old deviaces which doesn't support newest crypto technology? what if your friends are IT security specialist and likes to show everybody how good they are?

In small and medium business environment, without SSL on HC2 and HCL, it means everyone in the company gets a chance to exploit the non-secured Home Center. From a security perspective, the highest risk is usually not from external but internal.

Fibaro, have a look at Synology and how its products were badly affected last year due to vulnerability and its customers being locked out of their own devices. The ordeal and publicity tarnished its reputation on a global scale.
