HC2 stuck with all LED On

Question

Posted

This may help others if they have the same problem.

This morning we had a power outage and when the power came back the HC2 didn't restart and was stuck with all LED lit.

I tryed several times (+-20) to restart the box without success (recovery didn' work either).

I then decided to connect a VGA screen and then I noticed that it was stuck on the Intel starting screen forever !

I then removed the USB key and restarted the HC2. Then it started but withou finding the keys so that didn't work.

Then I restarted the box again without the USB key and inserted the key when the second LED was lit AND MIRACLE the box started again.

For now it is still running but I am not confident in trying a clean restart from the UI.

The box was already sent once to Poland (65 Euro for DHL)

Please Fibaro could you let me know it I can now restart my box normaly with a clean restart?

I assume that by usb key you mean recovery stick? System image is not written on this stick, controller is booted from another one, located inside. It looks like a problem with motherboard itself, hence even a ssh access can be not sufficient. Please contact guys from support for help, but I am afraid if you really want to figure things out and problem keeps occurring, the warranty may be necessary. If you do not want to pay for shipment, you can contact your reseller and return controller to him.

@MalvinYNJ I didn't contact support as the box was not starting they would not have been of any help as ssh access was not there. They would have suggested to send the box back.

@j.nowacki Thank you for your response. As you explain, the problem must come from the motherboard, perhaps the bios was reset because of a dead bios battery and now the boot device is wrong? I think it is so because as it was stuck on the Intel screen at boot It was trying to boot from the recovery key. I also noticed that the backup is not functioning anymore (I am still on 3.6) it must be the disk reference that are incorrect as I inserted the recovery key during the boot process.

Unfortunately, I am not ready to send my box back to Poland and again live 3 weeks without it

/emoticons/default_icon_sad.gif" alt=":-(" /> I already did that once and it was not cool at all. And I cannot send it back to my reseller as I bought it on eBay from someone not happy with it. It is sad because I saw all the fix on version 4.042 and was finally ready to try it once again but with the system in this state I am too afraid to try to restart the box.

I can take a look at your recovery stick and check if it is corrupted if you wish, please send me PM with time that suits you.

set the hc2 in a network with no internet or router. Hc2-cable-switch-cable and a pc or laptop. No switch: use a cross cable. Set your own pc or laptop to 192.168.81.10 in networck settings.

then go to the adres 192.168.81.1 in your browser and there you must find your Recovery from HC2

first of all reset the HC2, power of and power on with holding second button.mwait long till the blinking is gone and the first two stay on then release and do the above.

    It solved my problem.

Since I had same power failure and boot issues I 've connected my HC2 to a UPS. Otherwise It never boots up normally after a power failure. It's a workaround but it still works after a power failure and never shuts down unexpectedly.
