Odd GreenWave Powernode behaviour (UK version)

Question

Posted

Hi All,

Has anyone seen the following before? I have a brand new 5-port UK spec powernode. Received today and installed this pm. Basically it seems to function ok (turning sockets on and off) but, after a few minutes, I get a) Flashing Green Outer Ring AND b) Solid red inner icon alternating at the SAME time. Even though this happens I can still use the sockets On/Off but this constantly happens. It seemed to include fine (tried it x3 times to be sure) with x1 parent and x4 child devices controlling all of the 5 individual sockets.

There's nothing in the manual that shows these two distinct issues 'together' so I'm wondering if it's some UK specific behaviour? e.g. Signifying that the surge protection (UK and US only) is not working anymore or something.

Has anyone else seen this?

KR, Dave

Did you tried setting parameter 1 to 255 (1d)?

    Hi,

No, whatdoes that do? Itdidnt come with a manual (brand new in uk) and so I have no clue what params are available (no templates or auto setup in 3.590) at all for it or what theyd do.

    Any help appreciated

    Dave;)

The flashing is because of "lost" connection, with this parameter you can enlarge the time between these "readings". It is working in my case (use 4 of them).

Is it all bars on the ring flashes or only couple  ??? Steady red in center means. Over-current protection on the PowerNode is activated. Unplug the attached device that caused the issue. Reset power by unplugging and replugging the PowerNode into the electrical outlet.

    Hi Guys,

Am confused to both your helpful answers!! Perhaps you can help me by giving me a list of parameters or where to go to find them to input manually?

    1) cant see 'how' (?) flashing could be lost connection because it a) still worked fine and b) its 1ft from HC2?!

    2) I know what manual online says (re red led icon) but a) its brand new b) Ive only tested it...nothing is even plugged in!! If I switch off mains supply to powernode and back on again it carries on doing it....and still nothing plugged in!

    Help?!

This parameter determines the interval in which greenwave node would like to exchange frames with controller (polling), if HC2 polls this device less frequently it will flash because of lost connection.
To aggressive polling can slow down your Z-Wave network so we suggest to increase this parameter value - by doing this you should resolve this issue.

Well, I have bought three of these devices. Two of them died shortly after purchase, third one died today, after 15 months.

    M Roszak,

Thanks for reply. Which parameter are you talking about? 1? Currently nothing is set as they would need to manually be added (in 3.590).

If it is 1 you are talking about what does it need to be set to? Someone above mentioned 255?

Are there any more parameters to set? Does whatever you are suggesting fix the flashing green ring, the red power icon OR both?

Just to clear things up that is!

I would advise you te set parameter 1 to 255 (1d), it will resolve the spinning green wheel (it least it did for me), don't know if it will solve the red power icon, but lets try it, it will for sure not break something.

And yes there are more parameters you can set, but please first try this one

    Remko,

Just wanted to say thanks.....I don't know 100% what the issue was but I did what you said and it's working fine now! No flashing ring OR red icon. So, whatever it was, thankyou.

Still looking for list of parameters for it though...can anyone advise?

    Hi Dave,

Good to hear it is working!

    The available parameters:

    Parameter #1 (1 byte):

After how many minutes the GreenWave device should start flashing if the controller didn't communicate with this device (min: 1, max: 255)

    Parameter #2 (1 byte):

    Wheel color

    128 Black (empty)

    129 Green (1)

    130 Dark Blue (2)

    131 Red (3)

    132 Yellow (4)

    133 Purple (5)

    134 Orange (6)

    135 Light Blue (7)

    136 Pink (8)
