Question

In the 4.042 we talked about eating up RAM until a reboot was needed. After Nowacki's tips on RAM eating scene's and VD's I gradually stopped the more complex scenes and VD's one to see the effect on RAM usage.

I think I found the 'Alarmclock'  (

) VD by Jompa68 to eat up my precious RAM. After deleting it it directly free'd up 5% RAM en free RAM started increasing slowly in the hours after that.

When I add AlarmClock again, it eats 4% RAM after adding it.

So guess that's the RAM eater (on my system). Any one else try to check this??

cheers

I think there's a bug because on my side, I've removed all time based scenes, remove all code from the mainloop of VD, remove the polling on my Greenwave, disable scenes based on power consumption, but still have memory growing.

I've also try to replaced the RAM of my HC2 (upgrade to 4Go of RAM), and with this amount of RAM, the usage memory still growing (about 1% by day, so with the 1Go RAM it's about +4% by day).

My network is fast, I have 84 wave devices, most of them are Fibaro, only 3-4 scenes and still the same problem. I'm having this issue since v4.036, same in 4.040 and still the same in 4.042 with everything disable at the max.

I use the alarmclock from jompa68 and does not have this problem.

Maby you have done some mod on the alarmclock?

Interesting you have issues. Try removing the main loop code and see if that helps.

Also have you made any mods to call your own scenes?

no mods in the alarm clock, still on 45% (started at 44% yesterday) when switching Alarm clock off), free mem space, that is. So stable at this moment.

    Hi,

I had memory eating issue in the later 4.03x firmwares and sort of under control after 4.04x. There is one sequence I did but not conclusive if it was the reason why I no longer face the issue.

    Prior to firmware upgrade:

    1. Reboot (to flush out any 'bad' cache or abnormalities),

    2. Perform a backup,

    3. Disable all (block and LUA) scenes (I have no VDs. I found with experience that scenes always become weird when upgrade firmwares and some devices turning weird in the process which in turn affects scenes),

    4. Upgrade firmware

Memory eating issue has stablize after upgrade to 4GB and after 4.04x firmwares. Just sharing what I have done and been through. May be it may help someone else.

Also experienced some RAM issues lately. Removed the AlarmClock VD and issue solved.
