Scene doesn't seem to be working...help

Question

Posted

Hi Guys,

I was trying to set up a scene so that if someone walks into the living room and breaches my PIR that I have there, if the LUX in the room is below 25, then the floor lamp will turn on for 300s.

I am alerted of the PIR being breached, but the light is not coming on.

Here is how I have it set up, where am I going wrong?

I am a newbie so thanks in advance

That scene is not alerting you so I guess it must be somewhere else thats doing that. The problem with the scene is that it will only run at 19:42 (and all the other conditions are met)

Hi

Unless you want the lux detector to trigger the scene also you need to un tick LR Lux in the Trigger Device section.

Also the 300 seconds in the Turn on LR Floor Lamp will cause a 300 second delay before it comes on, so you need remove the 300 seconds from there and add a

turn off comand after it and put the 300 second delay in there instead.

That was obvious, it was actually set at "any time" but for the purpose of the screen print I missed it.

OK, that is where I am going wrong. Explains why my wife then told me the light was randomly on when she entered the room.

For some reason my Fibaro motion sensor seems to be getting stuck on the LUX reading. It is showing 182 LUX when it is now in the dark and has done so for a day. I took the PIR and moved directly in front of a light and the LUX temporarily went to 18000+ and has returned to 12LUX but keeps getting stuck at a level.

    Anyone seen this before?

Yes mine has been doing that for two or three weeks now. If I walk into the room it detects me and then changes the lux.

Weird, not sure if its a fault as mine doesn't even change LUX when it detects movement.

what is  your parameter number 40 in your fibaro motion detector?

if this parameter is the default 200 it will only report changes in lux if the diffrence is 200 or more.

also i would change the scene to turn off lights when motion detector = safe

i dont think you will get desired results when just turning on the light for 300 sec.

caus after this 300 sec it will just turn off, even is there is motion in that room

OK, yes I have parameter 40 at 200. What shall i change it too? It so hard to adjust it with a sliding scale!

I like your idea, as I don't want it turning off after 300 seconds if people are still in the room. How do i turn off lights when for example 300 seconds of no motion has occurred? Here is my scene at the moment.

Basicly find the range that your Lux is operating in so

Set parameter to 10 (just to test the bandwidth of your lux in that specific room)

lets say that your minimum is 0 at night and maximum is 250 a day (full sun/lights).

if your parameter is set to 200 it will basicly only change your lux reading when there is full sun and lights

In above case i would prob change parameter to 50 or 25 to get more reading during the day.

    As for the scripts:)

My personal setup involves a VD so i can change stuff but basicly 2 scripts should do the job.

    Based on block scenes

scene 1) If (lux < 50) and (pir = breached ) then turn on light xxx.

scene 2) if pir  = safe turn off lights

    Hope thats enough info

if the timing of the pir is too short (ppl stil in room and lights turning off) adjust parameter 6 to 300 or higher depending on activity in room.

With the off scene like this, is the 300 in the right place? I wanted that to represent if it was safe for 300 seconds then turn off.

Not quite, i would do it like is seen in pictures attached.

    Also noticed you used "armed"

you dont need that, for a pir its either Breached or Safe.

you would use arm/disarm if you also want to use them for an alarm system or such

dont use the days of week etc, its not needed

i also see Lr lux < custom value 50. im not sure that works.

Use like i did in picture

if you use it like this all should be fine and any tuning should be done with individual pir settings.  like parameter 40 and parameter 6

    anyway it works for me

any changes are allways on the pir itself.
