Urgent AutoStart advice please!

Question

Posted

Hi All,

Never really thought about this in detail but, now that I am, its bugging me.

Yesterday (as per my post on 4.048 forum) my scenes stopped working for no reason at all. When I looked into it I realised that certain scenes (AutoStart scenes) which set variables for use in the other scenes, had not been set. I then used ToolKit to check running instances and saw that my Day/Night scenes (AutoStart) had no running instances at all. This is why the other scenes didn't work.

The problem is I don't know why they didn't start when last time HC2 was restarted (17h ago). This has never happened before in a year. Anyway, I restarted the HC2 again and saw two running instances for these two scenes (yay!).

However, I have 2-3 other Autostart scenes (including 2 Magic scenes) which run on a trigger or time (overnight). These are set to AutoStart so should I not be seeing running instances of these also? As I don't in Toolkit and am just wondering why?? I'm sure I've seen them before but wonder if they only 'Autostart' at the time of the event (in Magic scenes) or on the trigger in the other...but doesn't that go against the point that they're supposed to AutoStart when HC2 restarts?! I'm lost!

KR, Dave

My autorun scenes seem OK. I happened to write a script to print a quick overview of scene, autostart and number of instances, it's here

The only thing I can come up with is this... do you start with a 30 to 45 second delay, to allow for full startup at boot time?
