It may just be me or my setup, but I have a HC2 in Spain on a 20Mb satellite broadband connection and run the system from home in the UK.  Whilst the internet connection is fine and strong, which I know for certain as I have remote viewing CCTV which is fine, on an almost daily basis I have a period of about half hour where I get the "Home Centre not found" screen on Android and no connection on a web browser.  It always comes back on without doing anything, and as said this seems to be about half hour later.

Whilst this isn't a major issue presently, it is becoming a bit frustrating as it seems to be random times, meaning of a night time I have to wait for the connection to establish again to turn lights off etc.

Anyone else have this or have any ideas as to why my system does it?

Thanks.

Same issue here (direct cable internet) with mobile devices try to access the HC2. I experience the problems since the last HC2 of Android update..

Similar remote access challenges on regularly basis (almost daily since 4.048, and particularly bad for yesterday 6th June Asia Pacific timezone). Internet connection is a 1Gbps FTTH so it cannot be insufficient bandwidth issue.

@Fibaro,

Is it possible to have a button in the Configuration menu to invoke and restart just the 'remote access' function instead of having to reboot entire HC2? I am very very very reluctant to reboot HC2 cause of the bug where each reboot, I lose all Power Consumption data prior to the date of reboot.

I constantly have about 5-6 different HC2's attached to my fibaro.com account. For the past few months the remote access has been very dodgy. It's very rare to see all the attached HC2's accessible at the same time. Usually there's 1-2 that are grayed out. Sometimes refreshing the home.fibaro page a few minutes later brings the disconnected units back, but at the same time there's a good chance that another one disconnects while doing so.

So all in all, we strongly urge our clients to get static IP addresses ASAP and set up remote access via port forwarding, leaving the home.fibaro as the last resort for extreme situations.

It's just not reliable enough at the moment.

Internet connection I have is on static IP address plan... Many times when remote access is broken, I can confirm it is not Internet connection issue cause direct connect to HC2 from Internet works, only via Home.Fibaro which is not working. That confirms it is Fibaro's backend that has been unstable and the root of all these remote access issues.

There was an interruption in availability of one of our servers for last couple of hours, it is up and running now. If you still encounter any issue contact support please.

Interestingly, remote access is now working. But, I had to give reboot a try before your post and as a result, lost all power consumption readings since 4.048 release day (bug #3226).

If only there is a Fibaro status page (something like what Apple did with its various services) where we can check on Fibaro backend servers availability, we don't have to keep guessing if the service breakage is due to our end or Fibaro end.

OK thanks guys. I have a static IP so will change this. I never did it originally as I remember reading a post a long time ago from Fibaro strongly recommending using their remote server but can't remember their reasoning. However, I can't afford for the drop outs without knowing, or having means of checking server status so will switch to IP access.

    Many thanks.

One last thing, what port(s) do I need to forward?

    Posted

Just the port 80. For safety reasons use a different remote port. For instance direct outside port 8999 to HC2 port 80. Then access your HC2 using:

Security is the main concern and I can understand that, given HC2/HCL runs on http (no SSL), it is not secured and the OS platform is not as secured as we wish it to be.

Remember, this is home automation and HC2/HCL controls our various aspects of our home. Hope your entrances are not tied to HC2/HCL where anyone who managed to hack into HC2/HCL can easily open the entrances to your home.

Any update from Fibaro why since the last weeks we have hugh problems with connecting from outside our local networks? I worked for me always....

    They don't say anything.

Emailed support but no reply, twitter no reply.. a PM i finally got lucky today and all you get is: We had some issues with remote access this last weekend but it should be fine by now. If you still encounter same issues after reboot please contact support.

    Kind regards

it's outrages that you don't get any feedback or status updates from this company...

And gone again this morning. This thing really is a bit of a joke, it's almost like HA for kids.

I waiting only for release support SMTP own server (IF?) and after that I never use home.fibaro.com portal. Quality of services is one things and security second things:-(

I'm not understand why fibaro not "open" SMTP functionality, if their portal is free. Only potential that Fibaro would like pay for this in the future !
