Moved my Fibaro box from France to Italy and...

Question

Posted

Morning Everyone,

I had a perfectly working Fibaro box in France. Now I moved the box to Italy and while internally it works well, it seems that the box cannot connect to Internet. I don’t get the latest updates, I cannot connect from

and my virtual devices cannot connect to Internet (send and receive data). I checked my Internet connection (and configuration of my network) and I do not see any problems.

Any ideas? How to troubleshoot and solve this problem?

Many thanks in advance for your support!

If your box is wired correctly, and working well in local network and the only thing is internet access, I am afraid you need to verify network configuration itself.

Many thanks for your quick reply! I am afraid I have checked all that and running out of ideas. I have tried with DHCP, static address...no luck. Any ideas on what else I can check?

When you compare "Subnet Mask" and "Gateway" and "DNS" of your HC2 to another device that does have full internet connection, are they the same? Do you use "Static IP" or "DHCP"?

Same parameters of my functioning laptop, for example. Now the HC2 is back on DHCP, but I also tried with a Static IP. Thanks!

Here's an idea... Put the HC2 on DHCP and note all parameters. Turn off the HC2. Use the cable of the HC2 to connect the laptop. Set the laptop to the same parameters. Can you surf? If you can, then strange things are happening on your HC2. If you can't - maybe it's the cable or firewall or a duplicate IP. It's rare, but it has been posted before: a bad cable may seem to work locally, but can give very bad quality internet connection.

Done...no luck! I also tried with a different Ethernet cable. Now for example, I am using a different cable and the HC2 with a static IP (the same that was given to my laptop when I tried with the same cable and same eth port) but still no internet connectivity. I do not what else I can try...thanks!

My last 2 ideas... First, try 8.8.8.8 as DNS. That makes sense because it's the HC2 that makes a connection to the Fibaro servers (not the other way around) and it needs a 100% functional DNS server. Second... maybe support can help you. They can't connect to you HC2 but as long as you are there they can do a teamviewer session to your laptop, and then log in via ssh and execute tools directly on the box.
