Hi,

 

I need to add 20m of led strip to Fibaro RGBW. 

The settings has:

 

4x5m RGB Led strip 5050 (30Leds/m) 4-5W/m (12V)

2x 5A power source

1x Fibaro RGBW

 

Now the question is, how do i connect it with two power surces? can i go with one power source to RGBW module and the second power source directly to LED from the second end? Do I need to run the second power source trough RGBW module?

    Hi guys, one more question, if I use 60 LEDs/m

     

    which will give me 140W in 14m, which is under 144 max. That should be ok.

    But how to do it with power source. Because they have available only 10A or 15A. So the question is, if i connect 15A to the RGBW module and then I connect those 14m of led, will the RGBW modul be alright? The led shouldnt take more than 12A, but i am not sure about RGBW modul handelig this?

    I used 24v LED due to needing less amp to run them. You can then do longer runs of them without getting so close to max throughout that the RGBW can take

    How are yo going to connect 14 m of strip? Is that three parts of approximately 5 m connected head to tail? In that case, you may want to check if the led strip allows so many LEDs chained together. The RGBW module with the 15 A supply isn't the problem.

    I agree with user fat that you may want to think about using 24 Volt. The 12 V setup is at its maximum, so if you think you may want to extend it in the future, 24 V is better.

    Ok guys thanks.

    I decided at the end to go with 30 led/m instead of 60 so i am around 8A on 14m that gives me possibility to use 10A source. I will connect it somehow as it is on the links above, i will only use one 10A source instead of 3 3A sources... I will post here how it works.

    And yes, i know the 24A works better, but there is a budget for this and it is very low

    Hi guys, 

     

    I have this question. Is it OK to power 1 Fibaro RGB module with 2 exactly the same 12VDC transformers? It is because we do not have a big hole in the ceiling to put through a single big transformer? The 2 ones will be connected + to + and - to - and then into the RGB module? What do you think?

    This time I will need to connect around 35-40 meters. I am trying to find 24V strip, but honestly, it seems that those strips just need twice as much W as the 12V, so not really sure which one to take.

     

    But I was talking to a friend and we thought about something like this:

     

    Connect 5A supply to RGBW module and then to 10m led strip. After the 10m I would connect the RGB to another 10m led strip, but I would put there separated 5A supply. After another 10m the same... So in my opinion, RGBW will not go over the max 12A even though there will be 20A together on the strip. Is this possible?

    I have a lot of led strips in and around my house. 

    As a power supply I use a power supply of a HP Server

    I can get 575 Watt's at 12 Volts out of them, so more then enough to charge my LED strips. For each coupled LED strip I use an amplifier (

    ) to be sure the strips act more ore less at the same time (some improvements have to be made here!). But also I didn't had to put a 4 or 5 wired cable around but just a thick 12 Volts cable and some RGBW controllers.

    These HP power supplies can be bought for around € 30,- and need a small work around but then work like a charm! (Something I learned from the RC-world. Not my kind of thing but they did a good job here)

    So if you want to cover longer distances this is a solution that's not that expensive and easy to do concerning cabling.
