Question

Hello,

out of nowhere I started having some problems accessing my HCL, which doesn't seem to boot up correctly - LEDs never stabilize - I'm not sure what caused this (some update went wrong perhaps?).

Here's the behavior I'm experiencing:

  • If I unplug / plug the HCL I get the blinking LEDs sequence starting from LEFT to RIGHT and, after some time, I get the blinking LEDs sequence starting from BOTH sides into the CENTER and back
  • If I try to enter recovery mode (Press [+] and Plug) I get the blinking LEDs sequence starting from BOTH sides into the CENTER and back

In both of these situations I cannot access the HCL - I've tried the static IP approach (192.168.81.x) as well as the DHCP one - it never shows up in my router connected devices (as it used to) and I cannot access it directly as well.

I guess I could try some factory reset method although I couldn't find any sequence of buttons I could press to achieve it.

Do any of you have experienced such a problem or have any suggestion on what could be done here?

Thanks in advance for any help you might give me.

Best regards!

If controller does not start up in normal mode nor recovery there is not much we can do - just make sure it is not reachable in network (can you ping it?) and contact support - they will provide you with instructions regarding warranty process or connect remotely, if device becomes responsive.

Thank you for your reply, j.nowacki.

I just received feedback from the support team and, indeed, I'll have to send it back for repair since the HCL is unreachable.

    Best regards.

I have the same problem.  It occurred two days ago when I hit the upgrade button in the HCL menu.  After that the HCL was contactable but only to the recovery page.  I tried the recovery option but now all it does is as described above. i.e.

Looks like you have a bug in your latest HCL load that turns them to bricks.  I have a house I can no longer control.  Not a happy customer here.

I have a very similar problem. However when the lights have scrolled left-to-right 3-4 times the whole panel turns black (no LEDs on any longer).

I have received a mail from Krzysztof Gumny where he suggests two different solutions. I have tried both without success.

I'll respond to his mail and ask for further support.

Hopefully I will not have to return the HC2 ...

    Hello everyone!

I have a HCL that is having some problems.

When it starts it takes more or less 2 hours to lock the led of internet access, lan and power.

then if i try to connect through browser it takes me to recovery mode.

    currently it has firmware 3.601.

When I try to upgrade firmware it reboots and has the same behavior.

is it possible to install firmware 4? where can i get it?

It looks like the error mentioned before by the other users!

I am experiencing the same problem.

I restarted my HCL from the Web UI and it never came back... There was no update involved, I am running 4.080

I opened a case with Fibaro support a couple of days ago but still haven't heard anything back.

The problems with HCL are getting worse...

    Hello,

I have the exact same problem as described in the first post. This Saturday morning I couldn't connect via the android app. Looking at the HCL (with 4.100 running flawlessly since some days) I saw the blue status lights cycling from the outside to the inside and back. Putting power off and on again, the lights start running from left to right and back, after a while from the outside to the inside. Pressing  "+" while power is off and putting power on again leads not to the recovery mode. I also changed the ethernet cable but that was of no help either.

Please let me know what do do.

    Thank you!

Thank you, I already did this. Waldemar Kin responded, obviously there is no other solution as to send the HCL to you. The package will leave today.

Hmmm... Just encountered similar situation where the HCL is now exhibiting the same as what WalterM mentioned. Power up HCL results in LED lights circle from outer to inner and then inner to outer.

Any attempt to enter recovery mode is not responding. Pressing the power button results in LED lights left to right and then right to left, for awhile (probably a minute or two) before it switches back to the above outer to inner and then inner to outer.

Is there no other alternative than to send back to Fibaro?

    Case #61555.

Just for an update and to close the case:

Thank you FIBARO Support! I got my HCL back, they super fast solved the (software) problem. Package arrived in Poland on October 25, and was send back to three days later. HCL is connecting again.
