Spam issue

Every night the forum is attacked by spammers. Roughly 2-3 spam topics each night. There are ways to prevent spam activity which are widely known on other forums: 

• Captcha
• New users able to post only after a certain period of time 
• Only users with certain level of ranking points can post
• Posts from new users must be validated by moderators
• etc, etc

There is captcha enabled during registration, as well as question challenge. Problem is that captcha is no longer a problem for bots, also introducing too complex questions with some knowledge required over our system for example might be hard for most newcomers to answer. Also almost all bots that pass our registration are the ones that passes gmail ones - which is quite well protected. There are multiple users that register on the forum for immediate help, hence enabling them to post after some time would be pointless.

We are having many new users everyday, and moderators are not always available to accept new posts, hence we decided to take the way that will be least harmful for the community: until we can assign more people to validate new members we are going to maintain present way of operation, which is removing spam on daily basis. We are talking about 1-2 posts per day which is not much.

I understand your concerns and understand that this might be annoying, but I think we all agree that all actions that will make it harder for new members to join our community are worse than 1 spam post per day, that will be usually deleted anyway in a few hours.

Thanks for the prompt answer. I understand your position and it makes perfect sense. What I can suggest to all members that care about the forum - report spam posts as soon as you see them. I am sure this will help the mods.
