Hi.

Where is backup's stored? is it possible to copy it to a HDD?

I want to be able to restore a backup on a new HCL if my HCL dies.

Backup for HCL is stored in our cloud and is tied with the serial number of your controller. There is no way of downloading it, saving or moving between different controllers.

So my backup can not be used on a new HCL, if my current HCL get hit by lightning?

If/when my HCL dies, then I can look forward to an extreme amount of work, because it is not possible to make a proper backup.

Do the same "brilliant" solution also apply to the HC2?

I really find this very disturbing!!

    Hi,

I know this Treat is a bit old, but I have to ask, if there is a solution to this problem yet. I can not believe, that there is no possibility for the HCL to restore a Backup on a new device. In other words, if your device is dead, that’s your problem.

Is there a possibility yet to transfer the backup to an new device?

A backup should be managed by using user credentials and not device serial number. Same as a phone.

The backup is done to retrieve your status when a device breaks. So what is the need when you change it and not possible to retrieve your previous status?

    Hello,

Thank you for your suggestion. I will forward it to the appropriate team. However, I cannot promise that any change will be introduced soon.

would also appreciate to have the backup local here and be able to restore e.g. into a new HCL or HC 2 if needed. Just did this on a frtz after a major disaster and it worked perfect. Up and running again in 15 min. That is what backups are for (I think).

From HCL to HC2 it could be technically difficult. They are different devices.

To swap FW management from serial number to user credentials instead should be quite simple, so it seems that Fibaro does not want to do it like a lot of other needed things here.
