i have just fitted the dimmer 2 replacing an existing Fibaro dimmer

I have 23 6w megaman LED's total wattage 138 it worked fine with the old dimmer but with the dimmer 2 I have to ramp the brightness slowly or it switches off

I don't have this type of load, nor the amount of load, but I know Parameter 39, Overload can be raised from 250 to 350 Watt. Does that help? What is the result of Parameter 31 (dimming type)?

Yes Already upped it to 350 31 was detected as trailing edge

What type of installation do you have? 2- or 3-wire?

What result do you have in parameter 30?

Can you send me more data about your load? Exact model or there is sometimes rated current written on the bulb.

Is there a possibility to log in to your system, and check what error it is sending?

I hope nobody gets offended if I join this topic, but I own the Dimmer 2 and I try to learn about it as much about as possible... To help other people. So I have a question, but if it's too much trouble then you really don't need to put any effort in this. The question is: how many of these lamps CAN be driven without any problems (roughly)? That would give me an idea of the amount of load (but with different lamp types) I would need to test with...

All loads have a startup current, as all the LED lights contain their own little power supply they also have a startup current (called an inrush current). Depending on the load this can be 10 - 15 higher than the average current, which in your case means somethings like 1300 Watt for a few ms. Therefor the dimmer may not like it when you turn them all on to a 100% and go into a protection mode.

I have tried both currently it is left as a three wire for the last 18 months the room has been working fine with the old fibaro dimmer in 2 wire mode no bypass

    parameter 30 is control mode

    23 of MEGAMAN 6W 400LUMEN GU10 DAYLIGHT

it should be 138w when turned on slowly at full brightness the dimmer 2 says 141w

    no error is sent

it wont even go to 50% worked fine with the normal dimmer

even then the power supply will turn on and create a high current peak. 10 times (50% of 138) 69 is still 690 Watt that will try to go through the dimmer for a short time. Most dimmers can handle an inrush current but a dimmer that handles only 250Watt might have a problem with this, and don't forget that the first dimmer was 500Watt.

Try to take out a few bulbs and it will probably have no problems... (Just as a test)

+1 for that. Hopefully soon otherwise I might have to use Qubino modules which will be available in September here in Australia

Any ETA Fibaro for this in Australia? We are still waiting for the wall plug and smoke sensor as well

Any solution for this problem with the non working load, it seems I have the same problem.

    My load is 3x25W.

3x25W standard lights or are those LED lights? With LED you could probably use the FIbaro by-pass 2. If it is a normal light it should work, if it doesn't the dimmer does not meet the specifications and therefor faulty.

Those are standard lights, if I turn them on with the physical button they turn on with no fuzz but if I try to turn them on by a scene or in the HC than they turn on for a second and then off again. I had the old dimmer before and just changed to the new one. Any idea?

    Posted

do you have more scenes that control the dimmer? looks like something just turns it off again... Can you show your scene?

    Posted

I have deleted the dimmer once again and it is now not even assigned to a room or a device so it shouldn't be affected by any scene. I will try to change the dimmer and see that it is not damaged in any way. Could it be that the lights are coming to its end?

BTW: Is the bypass 2 part of the dimmer 2 product or must i buy it separately?

    Posted

    It is sold separately.

Magnus, in the manual there is a tip that may help You. If the light is connected in 2 wire mode, there is a possibility, that calibration algorithm sets to high dimming level.

Try to change parameter 2. in this case manually to a lower value.
