Hi, I bought an FGS222 to replace an FGS221 that broke. When I first include and set up the FGS222 it works fine. After a few hours, one of the two outputs turns on with no action from me and no scenes that control it. In the software (both webpage and android) both outputs still show as off, and turning the "always on" output on and off has no effect, this output will always stay on. I do not have any physical switches connected as the FGS222 is in a concealed location. The only thing I can do is reconfigure or reset the FGS222, which solves the problem for a few hours, then it starts again.

I initially thought this was a hardware problem, so I arranged to return it and bought another FGS222, but I am having the exact same problem. None of my old FGS221 modules have this problem, including the one that broke which I am trying to replace.

The FGS222 is connected to 240v mains and each output is a separate, 0.5a 240v-12v transformer which operates water valves for a sprinkler system. This is exactly the same setup as my old FGS221 which had worked fine for a long time.

Anyone any idea what is going on?!

Hi

Could it be that the switch is sticking (welding)? Can you hear the switch clicking on both the on and off command?

See my thread in this section about my FGS221's sticking in this section.

Sprinklers in the UK? Thats just rain, right?

The newer version has lost a DC specificationFGS-222: 110 - 240V ~ 50 - 60Hz if you read the manual

i had a lot of problems with my sprinklers in the beginning,

You can read about it here

Please login or register to see this link.

It woult have been great if we could use FGRGB-101 instead and controll 4 valves with one unit. But then you cant choose controlled unit "Sprinkler"

Answer from fibaro support about it.

    Hi

Not sure what you mean by sticking/welding? It's clearly "sticking" in the sense that it's stuck in an on position. I'll reiterate in case I wasn't clear at first:

    • Everything works fine when I first include and set up the relay -- when you turn one of the outputs on/off in software, it makes a click and the relevant output switches on/off.
    • After a few hours, and without any external agent changing the relay's state, one of the outputs will switch to being on.
    • After this happens, nothing will turn it off -- changing the state in software has no effect, no clicking sound, no change to that output staying on, etc.

It's typical UK weather at the moment, but when I set this up earlier in the year I had just planted a hedge and wanted it watered while I was out of the country for a month. I'm glad the old FGS221 at least worked for that and I didn't come back to a pond and a huge water bill. Although given my experiences with Fibaro to date, I don't know why the hell I trusted it that much!

Just checked my email -- naturally I have had no communication whatsoever from Fibaro support (surprise surprise), but I have received this from the return I requested on my first FGS222. Looks like Fibaro are aware of a potential problem with some of their FGS222s, but they lack the courtesy to directly inform affected customers.

    Hi

We are sorry that you have experienced problems with the device.

We have spoken with Fibaro about this and we are in the process of returning our stock from this batch as a precaution against further faulty units.

As such we will be unable to provide a replacement but will issue a full refund upon receipt of the defective item.

As per the eBay process for returns we have authorised this and you should be sent a pre-paid return label.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this must have caused.

    Matt

Have the same issue with one of my FGS222 - it "sticks" in ON position. Hitting the unit slightly or shaking it turns it off again.

    I've started a topic about "sticking" relay(s)

Please login or register to see this link.

It's about relays that are stuck in the "on" position, but can be "unstuck" by gently tapping the device. There is some background and possible solution.

It is not about relays that switch themselves on without a trigger.

Stuck relays often suffer from "spot welding" (high current, capacitive load) or "arc welding" (high voltage, inductive load).
