hello all

i think my new Dimmer 2 module has died???

HC2 reports as a dead node and doesnt wake it up even when i manually press the switch for 'On' and when i click the 'X' to wake?

i then tried to exclude so i can include again and it doesnt respond,

i did notice that the LED light in the module itself is RED?

any thoughts or things i can try before sending back for a replacement???

thanks

Did you try to reconnect live wire ?

Please switch off the mains supply and connect external load, then power everything back. Could there be a short-circuit at the output?

The module is not fault, maybe you have something wrong with the parameters.

Make a calibration from the menu (button B).

Please troubleshoot what happened according to section "errors" in the manual.

Just stopped working. Everything was working and this morning not working. Locally switching the switch operated the light properly and when I removed the dimmer and connected the switch as per original it works ok which means the electrical side of the wiring system is fine and not 'short'.

Ive also removed power and reconnected it and that didn't work either...

Please make a calibration or force reset, or exclude from the network and include again.

Did you changed something in the light? Incandescent bulbs for LED? What you have connected there now?

What is the type of connection?

Value of the parameters 1,2,14,30,31,32,33,34 would be helpful too

just tried again now and its responding again? the browser shows that the light has switched on when i turn it on locally and i can control the light from the browser.  i can also control the scene activation on S2 aswell.

this is very strange behavior and since the update of the new firmware to 4.056 experiencing Dead Nodes and then all of a sudden working again.

ive noticed on the controller that from the right side occasionally i get 4 blue lights on and not the usual 3?

morpheus75, could you answer my questions?

Answers will be really helpful in this situation.

I think it's a matter of wrong parameter/load or something connected with Dimmer 2, not HC2 version

I have a dimmable halogen bulb. Live is connected to L. The switched Live is connected to switched output.

The Sx is connected to N terminal and also the common of the both switch. S1 and S2 connected to the respective switches.

    Parameters are as follows:

    1 1%

2 60% - I couldn't set it higher as it would reach this level and switch off

    14 calibration not performed

    30 control mode selected automatically

    31 trailing edge

    32 mode automatic

    33 load recognised as dimmable

    34 short soft start

As I have said before it worked perfectly then stopped and now started again... no physical changes at all

    Ok,

    1. You have a 2 Wire connection, that means Dimmer powers when voltage is not applied to the output. If You set too high parameter 2 with a combination of load power, the Dimmer will turn itself off preventing hard power reset. The solution is simple:

-> please change parameter 2 to a lower value (55 for example or leave after calibration result). You can have variations in mains voltage that cause problems with "to low power applied to module" the problem should not occur after the change. What i can say, that the load is a 40W bulb or something near probably, so the Dimmer operates at his margin. Is this correct?

Parameter 14 means that You have changed the settings by yourself

load is a 28w halogen bulb. i have tried to change the value of parameter 2 down to 55 but i cannot as the module is coming as DEAD and i cannot wake it up. the HC2 and module are in the same room. also the HC2 seems to stay in 4 LED lights on - which i believe is the Zwave LED light is always on...

    1. Can You wake the device manually in HC2 and then send parameter 13 set to 1? (calibration without bypass)? I think this is doable and will solve all problems.

    2. If this won't work, maybe conencting a 60W+ load will help.

    3. If that is impossible or does not work you have to take out the module from the wall box, push the button B at first (blue) position in the module LED menu, release and short-click to accept position. After a while everything will work again.

will try this after i get the HC2 to respond properly. currently something is causing the 4th LED from right the 'Z Wave' LED to stay lit. so working out with Tech Support in UK what could be the issue, once that has been figured out i can continue testing module.

    thanks for input so far...

If there is some disturbance in Z-wave communication the Dimmer is probably going dead for that very reason - since this state indicates that there could not be communication established. This would not influence LED on Dimmer 2, but should be sorted out first.

i have reset my HC2 and am adding devices back again by excluding then including, i am struggling with the dimmer 2 to reset and include back again. please advise?  thanks

    Posted

well, if the red light is on, fast tripple pressing the S1 switch will send include/exclude frame to the HC2. Alternatively fast tripple pressing B-button will do the same.

Excluding Dimmer from the Z-wave network will reset calibration parameters and force an obligatory calibration process.

But the inclusion has to be done after Dimmer sets all calibration results, so it's not dimming by itself. Wait 40-60 seconds after succesfull exclusion Dimmer 2 from the network before entering inclusion.

i have reset the dimmer by pressing menu until Yellow and then double clicking. this has then forced re-calibration of the dimmer.

i have then tried to exclude and include by tripple clicking and i dont get a response?

the dimmer and the HC2 are about 1.5m apart and i have selected NWI

S1 is working? Can You change the dimming level?

It's strange that You don't get proper reaction. Maybe You try to click too fast? It should be rhythmic but not too fast

You said something about blinking light on the HC2, maybe this is the problem. Can You contact our support team tomorrow and describe this problem? Are other devices excluding/including properly? Maybe You have some scene, that sends information to Z-wave network. Or other device trying to communicate with the HC2.

After yellow menu position Dimmer 2 is reset to default (not added to any network).

the HC2 has been fully recovered and reset back to default with all devices deleted. i then updated to latest firmware and have started to add all my devices back in. i have been excluding and then including devices and all have been doing fine.

i have added the relays, roller shutters, universal sensors, TKB plugs, thermostat and RGBW all back in with no issues except the Dimmer 2.

i will contact support tomorrow and see if they can think of anything.

the local Switching of the light is fine and working, and i did get the green calibration OK notification LED aswell.

    thanks
