GPS: How to make it work

Hello there,

 

I have a HCL and I'm trying to get GPS to work in scenes.

 

What I did so far:

- I have defined my home location

- I have the GPS interval on 1 minute

- I have an app on my Android GSM, which is active

- GPS on the GSM is on

- I have made 2 scene's.

   - One in which I wil leave home, then lights should turn on.

   - One when I arrive home, Music plays on my Sonos.

 

With both also a push message is sent, so I can double check.

 

When I left: nothing happens. Only once. I received 3 push-messages. When I tried it again, nothing happened.

 

When I arrived home (also tested with 'coming in the neighbourhood') nothing. And than suddenly, after about 20 mins or so, music started when the GPS gf my phone wasn't even activated. Again 3 push messages.

 

So it is unstable.

 

Am I doing something wrong? Do I miss something? In HCL? Or on my phone ?

Maybe its an idea to program it with the Tasker app. This can save you a lot of batterylife as well!

 

I just build a scene in Tasker where I get a notification on my Android phone when I enter/leave my home to activate/deactivate my home alarm. I am working on some remote access issues (

), but other than that, it works perfectly. 

 

When you use Tasker, you can also program scenes that will start/stop when you are in a area of a certain GSM/Cell. This works very good and you can save a lot off batterylife on your smartphone. For example, you can turn off your wifi/gps/bluetooth etc, when you disconnect to the GSM/Cell's around your home and only start a fibaro scene when you are connected to your Wifi @home

Hi Roy, thanks for the response. I have never heard of this tasker app. I Will investigate.

By the way, in this forum I have read similor problematiek on iPhones. Sonia is not aan Android issue, but apperently a HCL one.

Act this moment I have no registration of data now trom my gps status. None. Zip. This I also read in other fora topics.

To be continued.

Ps I learned allready one thing: in scenes work with entering and leaving zones in stead of arriving or leaving a specific point.

Personally I don't like it when my GPS is continuously active. And because you can create better more specific (and detailed) tasks with Tasker, I like this option better. Let me know if you need some help configuring
