Danfoss LC13 battery life

Question

Posted

Hello,

I have 9  Danfoss valves installed in my Fibaro z-wave (v 4.056) network and the wakeup period is set to 1800. The distance between the controller and the valves is between 3 - 20m but every Danfoss valve has normal signal.

The problem is that the battery drain very very fast on every valve, within 1 week there are only at 20% and I become a notification in the notification panel.
Does anybody have a solution for that?

Thank you

My thermostat has worked for over a year, with the following options.
It is the old model, before LC13.
Unfortunately, they are very slow to open and close, through both stages and with temperature changes in the room.

Thank you for the settings. I've already tested the 900s wake up setting on some of them but it's not helping, still have the same battery life problem.

Do I have to update their firmware maybe, is that possible ?

The LC12 and LC13 are not upgradeable. Out of curiosity... do you have firmware 1.0 or 1.1? Are you trying to use rechargeable batteries?

    Hello,

I have FW.1.1. Right now I'm using rechargeable batteries because I've already tried alkaline batteries with no success. I know that rechargeable batteries are drained out faster but first I'm trying to fix the problem.

So we have the same type of LC13. Long time ago, against the advise in the manual, I have tried rechargeables in my LC12. They drained in two weeks and on top of that, they behaved eratically. So I doubt you can diagnose it with nimh (1.2 Volt). I would do a full reorganisation of the zwave network and then exclude-include a valve. I know that's annoying, but it's the fastest route to a fresh start.

Concerning battery level measurement: The LC13 recommends a standard Alkaline battery - witch have a very different discharge curve from most rechargeable batteries.

    - this means that the LC13 will think the battery is empty, even if it isn't. Example LC13 expect to have 1.4V, but you use 1.2V battery which it can work with but the battery level is just showing 50-80% even when full.

Maybe you can find your battery discharge curve here, to have a comparison:

Hi. Every time you change the battery must to setup from start the temperatures at fibaro. I read the manual that says it goes at factory settings after changing the battery.

using the same trvs in my house and i am using normal batteries duracell and they have been running now for nearly a year non stop and seem to work fine. Do not use rechargrechargeable or the drain is too great

    Best batteries are Duracell's.

Heat plan is off? Maybe too many sets are in or scenes using valves?
