DSC Alarm Plugin - how to set up?

Question

Posted

Hi,

Does anyone know how to configure the DSC alarm plugin?

I have the following hardware:

DSC 1864 panel

IT-100 RS232 module

Global Cache IP2SL

Envisalink 3

Originally I was hoping the DSC plugin would integrate with the Envisalink 3, but I can't get it to work.

Is anyone (or ideally Fibaro themselves!) able to say how this plugin is configured? Do I need to use the IT-100 + the Global Cache IP2SL?

Many thanks!

I was enquiring about the same thing.  What problems are you getting with integration with envisalink?

The Fibaro DSC Plugin is not compatible with the Envisalink.

You need the IT-100 and a Global Cache iTact IP2SL unit.

I am looking to buy a DSC alarm system to integrate with HC2. Did you manage to get your system working and integrated? If so could you share your experience?

I've got it set up, but currently there is a bug in the Fibaro iPhone app that mean's you can't log in when you have a DSC device set up on your system, which is pretty crippling.

Fibaro support are looking into the issue now...

What hardware did you buy to setup your alarm?

    DSC 1864 panel

    IT-100 RS232 module

    Global Cache IP2SL

    Envisalink 3

All the above or just a subset?

How did you find out how to connect all this hardware together and configure it?

    You just need this:

    DSC 1864 panel

    IT-100 RS232 module

    Global Cache IP2SL

No need for the Envisalink 3.

These are the instuctions I got from Fibaro:

    Dear Sir,

In order to connect DSC plugin you should do:

    1. Connect Global Cache to the same LAN that HC2.

    2. Configure GC like in pic in attachment

    3. Go to DSC plugin and fill all necessary informations – see attachment

    4. Click add and wait until it download all devices from DSC alarm.

After it you will get all features of DSC at HC2 interface.

    Best regards

Are you able to use DSC motion sensors to trigger lights? How big is delay between motion and reaction?

    Hi,

It's pretty quick - half a second delay or so but that's probably the lag introduced by running the scene to turn in the lights etc.

Any chance that Envisalink 3 will be supported? I have an IT-100 but i could do without the expense of the Global Cache unit.

    Hi guys,

Do you use a lua code to arm/disarm the DSC alarm system or something else? We tested it with another DSC power series alarm system and we were able to arm it but the disarm function was not working.... The DSC panel makes some beeping sound and nothing... Please share your expirience.

I have similar scenario and it seems that something is wrong with my setup. The only difference is that I use Wifi instead of Ethernet. Plugin import goes up to 66% and then finishes. I have sensors and zones visible in Fibaro but there is no change in their status.

    Any hints?

Is the DSC IT-150 compatible with Fibaro plugin?

Please login or register to see this link.

Seems a bit messy and expensive to go from RS232 to Ethernet when you can go straight to Ethernet? Does the IT-150 not have access to the DSC API?

It seems that IT-100 is only supported but I'm not able to confirm it.

Another problem is weakness of DSC plugin itself. It would be very useful if we could initiate virtual keyboard commands to DSC (because it supports it).

This means that you could send keystrokes to DSC Virtual panel which would give you opportunity to do almost anything.

With this integration you will get sensor input info but everything else requires knowledge about DSC programming through LUA code.

I do not enough time to try it but I'm not quite sure whether LUA coding makes any sense because if we need to establish another TCP/IP connection to Global Cache Unit it is allready occupied by DSC plugin on HC2. So it will not work.

Thanks for the info. What does the DSC plugin allow you to do?

Currently my alarm needs two partitions to be armed on "Stay". I would like to automate this into Fibaro with one action, is this possible?

from my experience, you can get info on each particular sensor (breached, safe) and use that info in any scene. For example, if sensor is breached send notification.

You can try to arm you alarm but I wouldn't recommend it. Simply because it is not reliable as it should be for such purposes.

DSC plugin is entry level functionality and I would call it "proof of concept" rather then production level plugin.

Maybe it is only my setup but I decided to use old fashioned alarm keyboard after I haven't succedeed to reach my alarm several times in the raw.
