Thermostat DANFOSS LC13 versus DEVOLO thermostat

Question

Posted

Hi,
this are my expirence with the z-wave-Thermostats from DANFOSS and DEVOLO.

First i think, the both are the same. They look the same and are only supplied in other boxes.

But there are - at least one - difference.

First I included in the September 2015 this DEVOLO thermostat in my Fibaro System:

After Include I had 2 devices.
One for the setpoint temperature and one for the actual temperature.

Now in October, I had to install a further Thermostat.

Since DEVOLO yes its thermostat already buys at Danfoss, I thought, I'll buy myself equal to an identical DANFOSS Thermostats:

But the Include this thermostat only one device for the desired temperature has been created:

But I'm interested in the actual temperature, I Danfoss thermostat sent back and installed a DEVOLO thermostat. Although this is also DANFOSS.

I do not know why it is that for the same ends thermostat out different devices are created when Include

Generally speaking... Some Z-Wave devices look the same (e.g.old Düwi, Z-Wave.me wall switches) but they can have different firmware (from the same company, or different companies) exposing different features. Sometimes firmware revisions expose or enhance features from the same company with identical looking hardware. One of the first Fibaro FGS-221 could only do auto-off up to 2.55 sec, later models have 6553,5 sec. I don't know in the particular case, but I'm certain a "Danfoss Living Connect" does NOT report temperature. I have LC12 and LC13 V1.1 and it only has a set point. For you, I hope the Devolo is based on the LC13 V1.1 firmware and hardware. The other versions only work well in my network if they have a direct error-free connection to the controller... Though I must say my LC12 seem to be following my heating panel, but they always alarm with "blinking antenna & bell symbol" (meaning "communication error").

Is all working as expected with the Devolo thermostats?

Can you set the "actual temperature" device as the main temperature sensor of a room?

I'm thinking about buying the Danfoss ones, but now I see your post and maybe the Devolo ones are better for my situation.

For about one month, the DEVOLO thermostat is working properly.

I hope it stays that way.

But their message makes me think.

We're very dependent on the manufacturers - sigh

Not entirely sure what changes were implemented between 1.00 and 1.1 anybody any idea? all my danfoss are 1.1 and slightly reluctant to change to devolo if 1.00 is buggy!

Am i wrong in assuming these do not work via a tablet interface (heating panel) it will not recognise the device as a thermostat!

    Bumping an old topic.

@HaraldWien and or @Supernode: How is the battery life of the Devolo's? What is the wakeup time?

I'm thinking of buying 9 of them..
