H264 - Is there a official statement?

Question

Hey Fibaro-Team,

what is the plan regarding H264?

Nowadays it´s getting harder and harder to get a IPCAM which is not a H264 one!

Thx

Axel

I think Fibaro will be very future proof and they will support H265 ... :)

    Hello,

The research and works on integrating H264 are still ongoing. There is no estimated time of integration, but eventually it will be supported.

Eventually is a mighty long time...

I've been asking for a long time, but in the interim I've got cams on an alternative box just doing cam duty.

It's better than trying to find old tech cams with poor resolution in Australia.

    Cheers,

    al.

@T.Konopka Closing in on two years, which is a considerable chunk of time given a roadmap to support H264. H265 may by my understanding be off the hardware scale anyway...

Always good to see prompt action (admin, not company). But to avoid any misunderstanding and for the lazy - linked text (note time stamp):

How to integrate IP Camera supporting only H.264 compression standard?

Unfortunately it is not possible at this moment. We are working on the solution to allow such integration.

In 2016 FIbaro said "work in progress" , we are almost 2 years later now and still no solution..... come on, stop selling *abuse*, these guys are working on nothing....
If you are any capable as a software developper then this shoud not be to hard an be fixed in a sprint or 2....

It is tempting to agree. On the other hand: There have been other problems. To be specific: The terms reliability and stability are key. The latest HC fw has obviously strategically fixed the backup issues, but not exactly nailed the z-wave stability... I hope Fibaro now finally will get the basic requirements of a full fledged HA straight - then move on to tier 2 and 3 issues.
