Dimmer 2 does not have Z-Wave templates

Hello,

 

Everytime I install something new on my Fibaro system, things go either wrong.

 

I installed a Dimmer 2 onto my Fibaro system (latest firmware 4.057). After including the device to my network, the instruction manual says I should see a Dimmer appearing in the Devices section.

 

Unfortunately, I see three new devices appearing: 88.0, 88.1 and 88.2 (where 88 is the ID of my Dimmer 2). All three of them are dimmer devices. I don't understand why I have three of them. When I open the advanced settings of these devices, I don't see the parameters, instead I see a message saying that this is a device without a template. See attached images.

 

I don't understand. Can someone explain to me what this is and why Fibaro doesn't recognise its own devices???

Try to remove and add device again. This happend to me one, after added second time, template was there.

Thanks, already tried that. Did it a third time. No change. Still seeing three dimmers and it still says no Z-Wave template could be found. Also restarted Home Center 2, no change.

Firmware 3.3? The template will be included in the next HC update. BTW the device is functional without template. Older firmware? Then it should have a template.

@PETERGEBRUERS : yes the dimmer has 3.3 firmware. So is there any way to change settings meanwhile? (by default it's set to a momentary switch and I have a toggle switch connected to it). Thanks.

On the advanced page, add a parameter, nr 20.

I quote from the manual:

Choose between momentary switch, toggle switch and roller blind switch.

Available settings:

0 - momentary switch

1 - toggle switch

2 - Roller blind switch - two switches operate the Dimmer (S1 to brighten, S2 to dim)

I hope that makes up for the wasted hours

Does anybody know if the new template for 3.3 is now available in the 4.058 release?

For 3.3 dimmers, do a "soft reconfigure" after the upgrade. It's there. sceneActivation working too. Please read the thread on 4.058 before upgrading, it works well but there is an important change regarding scenes.

just added a Dimmer 2 with firmware 3.3 (from Robbshop.nl) and it does have a template in 4.056, no re-adding, no reconfigs, just works

Interesting. So 4.057 is the version that doesn't have a template. Oh. Well. That's history now...

at first sight it's a great dimmer! loads and loads of parameters to set. New housing as well, the only downside is that it has a little hump, so building it in the current wall outlet is a bit more difficult.

I have not installed it yet since I am technically challenged with my hardware / wiring setup. I have a "three way switch connection" for the lack of a better term. So I have normal toggle switches with intermediate on/off switches in the middle - altogether 4 switches, switching 2 lamps…

There seems to be a difference between the connections of dimmer generation 1 und dimmer generation 2. I have Dimmer 2 V3.3 – so I have to do some further reading before installing it. But good to know that there is a template in the 4.058 Version.
