Has anyone got the universal binary sensor to work with a DS 18B20 as intended? I am trying to get this to show the temperature in Home Center Lite, but no real luck.

I can get the center to see the actual temperature sensor, but it only shows 0.0°C. If I add or remove an 18S20 1-wire sensor and do an exclude and then include of the device I see the new sensor showing up or getting removed as expected: If I have one sensor I get one temperature device in Home Center LIte, if I have three sensors I get three temperature devices.

So it is visible there, it justt doesn't show any temperature.

Same 18B20 sensors are working fine in my other 1-wire network, so it is nothing wrong with the actual sensors. Have tried five different ones in all sorts of combinations, with the same result. They show up, but won't show the temperature. It is hard to debug as well as I don't know a way in to any logs or if I can turn on debug logging. I'm new to the Home Center Lite world and have found very little info about this. Any suggestions?

Did you include the fibaro sensor while the Temp sensor was already connected to the binary sensor ?

Yes. Like this: First exclude the binary sensor from my z-wave network. Power off the sensor. Then add (or remove) the DS 18S20. Power up the binary sensor again. Leave it for a few minutes (the instructions say 10 seconds, but since I can't get it to work I left it for a few minutes instead). Include the binary sensor to my network.

I get sub devices showing up corresponding to the temperature sensors, but they just don't show the temperature.

You must have DS18B20 s20 doesent work.

I would like to connect other 1-wire devices than DS18B20. Can I do it?

No, only DS18B20 is compatible with FIBARO Door/Window Sensor.

No I must not have that at all.

As I already wrote, the DS 18B20 sensors I have tested do work in my normal 1-wire network here. I have five spare sensors, and I have all tested them in the binary sensor with the same result. Hence me asking here if anyone actually have this working.

    1) In your first post you say you have the "S" version. In your last post you say it's the "B" versions. Can you please check that? Link to an application note explaining the difference:

    2) I have a spare DS18B20, so maybe after the weekend I can test it for you (2 DS18B20 probes on one module). I'd use a "FGBS321 Universal Binary Sensor EU" version 2.1. What type and firmware version is your Fibaro sensor?

    3) You are running latest HC firmware, version 4.057?

I have a DS18B20 to my UBS and it works.

Yes, I have that combo too. But I added it several releases back. If I recall well, there has been a release that broke adding a ubs with temp a while ago. But those already present, kept working. Since then I haven't added anything with a temp probe... Second law of Peter: "If I haven't tested it, it won't work".

I have two sets of 2x DS1820B sensors connected to single fibaro universal sensors. Both are working fine and have been for a while now.

    1) Sorry, it is the "B" version. Too many letters confuses an old man! Have corrected the first post now. DS 18B20, nothing else.

    2) That's what I have too: Device type: FGBS321 Universal Binary Sensor EU, Version: 2.1. It would be very nice of you if you could test that, to see if I should return mine as a warranty job or if it is the HCL software.

    3) Yes, running 4.057 Beta.

    Thanks for the help!

Ah, so with a bit of luck it is not any hardware related issues but just the HCL software... Thanks, that's useful to know!

I have the same problem. My version of HC 4.057 beta, but I have old UBS FGBS001 - temperature 0.00C and not change. Please help me too.

I have two sets of DS sensors connected to Fibaro UBS devices i.e. I am measuring the underfloor temp at two points in two separate bathrooms; four points in total

The model of the Fibaro device is FGBS321 Universal Binary Sensor EU. The version is 2.1. I am running 4.057 beta.

If you can't get it to work then the Fibaro device or the sensors are probably faulty, unless it's just an issue with adding in new in the 4.057 beta. Who knows any more

Please change your power supply dedicated for UBS to something with higher voltage. Notebook power supply (i.e. 19-20V) with magnetic core on the wire will be the best.

Then try to readd UBS to Z-Wave network. This should solve the problem. Let us know if this helped.

I have the same problem. Running 4.056 and using a 18b20 on my universal sensor. I tried 3 power supplies(12v, 15v, 24v) but this doesn't make a difference. I have 2 of these 18b20 sensors so I also tried to switch them but this also doesn't make a difference. I excluded and included the sensor about 50 times now. Seems this is a software bug in the fibaro. What a pity.

Hopefully fibaro will fix this soon.

I can only assume it is a bug for adding new devices.

I've also reported the issue to fibaro technical support through mail. Hopefully they will fix this in a future firmware update.

Another weird thing is, this morning when I woke up the fibaro had send me an email and push notification about a possible fire. The reason was the temperature sensor now shows 148 C instead of 0 C all the time. Does anyone else  have similair behaviour?

Just for your information I get Door/Window sensors and get both 18B20 and 18S20 connected and both are showing temperature (I do expect - it is under test - that "S" one is giving wrong indication. In room it was approx 1 deg difference on 20 deg C.

I had a conversation with Fibaro support and finally after a few weeks of trying everything I got it to work.

You have to reset the Universal sensor by method 2 from the manual. Fibaro support mentioned the following:

    Please reset the UBS by:
Resetting by cutting off the power supply and re-connecting the
power supply while holding down the B button – after 10 seconds,
after another cut-off and re-connection of power supply the settings
of the device will be reset

Test this on FW 4.059 beta, UBS has firmware 2.1 and my power adapter is 12V/2A.

Be sure to exclude the sensor before the reset and include it again after the reset otherwise you will end up with multiple universl sensors in your fibaro.

Hope this will help someone else.

Thanks for reporting this. I would have thought that "exclusion" on its own would suffice to reset the device. But clearly not. Z-Wave devices should reset when they are excluded. I did find such behavior with a Aeon Minimote (it keeps some parameters). Odd. But glad it's solved!
