Hi,

I recently installed a lot of Dimmer's 2.

But now I noticed some strange behaviors of these dimmers.

When I add some items to the same 230 Volts net of the dimmer, it reacts with shutting off and starting up again.

It occurred with a battery charger of DeWalt and with a Fein Multimaster.

And maybe with more devices, but these two showed up at first.

What do you mean when you say: "it reacts with shutting off and starting up again.". Does the light switch off and on? Does the module perform a calibration? Something else?

Is it a two or three wire setup? With bypass?

How many switches are connected to S1?

How long are the wires running to S1?

What's the firmware version of the dimmer?

Did you contact [email protected]?

Hello

I have the same problem with a Fibaro Dimmer 2 unit.

Having tested and replaced it with a qubino and it works without problems.

Have emailed the problem to fibaro support.

I have three wire setup.

I think the problem is due to power surges. What is your type of lighting do you use on the same phase.

I have fluorescent lighting fixture above the bathroom mirror.

I thing its the same issue as described

I experienced a lot of issues similar to this. My theory is, that dimmer 2 is very sensitive to quality of electric network. If there is any type of inconsistency, it reacts to it and behaves as described. Currently it runs on 2 wire setup with regular light bulb with limited max dimming level (par. 2) to 70%. This is the only working solution for me. Im awaiting dimmer 2 bypass to do a further testing of working settings.

Your problem is not exactly like that what's in the "switches off after 1 second " topic, but I agree it could be similar. I have tested this dimmer extensively and haven't noticed the problem you describe.

Would you mind answering my questions above, post 2? Then I can get a better understanding of what's going on...

    Hi,

I have a 3 wire system, 2 switches; one with 2 meters wire and the other with about 4 meters wire. Both connected to S1.

The load is 6 35W halogen bulbs connected through 2 electronic, dimmable transformers of 150 Watts each. There's no by-pass connected.

    I used the Dimmer 2 Version 3.2

This all works fine but when I connect the battery charger of DeWalt or my Fein Multitool to a plug on the same phase

my lights go down to nill and come up after a few seconds.

I made a mp4 movie of it but I'm not able to upload it on the forum.

I didn't contact support yet. I'm very busy renovating my home and also integrating Fibaro in my entire home.

Hmm... That could be a variant of the 1-second turnoff issue. I do recommend to contact support, because as far as I know none of the other users (nor I, using a test setup) was able to fix this "sensitivity". They can confirm if the issue is related, by logging into your system, and checking data sent from the dimmer to your HC2 that is not (yet) visualized by the system. Maybe they don't need to, if you just give them the same amount of details as you gave to me. BTW current version of the dimmer is 3.3 and it solves the 1-second turnoff issue for me (in the lab) + for a whole lot of other people. Please check with support, because Fibaro has not (yet) disclosed if this will be available as a firmware upgrade. As a temporary workaround, maybe the problem disappears if you connect only the first switch with wires < 0.5 meter. The problem might be related to the "light flashes as a disco" issue, that is , to my knowledge, not related to having multiple switches on S1.
