Control of Kitchen Hood (Whirlpool/Ikea Luftig BF570)

1152

Question

I would like to be able to control the speed of my kitchen hood motor. As is, it is controlled by a push button on the hood: Press once (speed 1), twice (speed 2), three times (speed 3), and finally press/hold for a couple of seconds (off). As you can see on the attached picture top right, there is a ten lead flat grey wire (with one marked read) from this button to the electronic speed control circuit bord. (The motor it self is a standard five wire. The wires can be seen on the left side of the picture). Any suggestions as to how to control the speed of this kitchen hood by HC2 and z-wave devices?

I don't think you will find anything about this in the manual...

On the grey flat-cable bundle you need to measure what "pins" change when you press the button. It probably closes a circuit between i.e. pin 1 and 2. Anyway - you will need to measure for different things.

When you have figured out what happens on the pins / wires when you press the button you can use a a regular Fibaro switch module to simulate the "button press". Just configure the Fibaro switch to do an auto-off for the relay after for example 1 second (on the FGS222 Switch this is done with Parameter 4 for relay 1).

I used this method to automate my Senseo machine. It takes some time but it is fun for a dull winter day.
