Philips Hue, Problem "Create User"

Question

Posted

Hi,

i just installed my Hue bulbs, and thus also installed the Hue Plugin.

I could search/find the Hue bridge but however I simply cannot "create user" after pushing the button on the bridge and the clicking the button in the plugin nothing happens...

What could I do?

cheers

Jep, that is quite annoying but actually is working. So, after you press button on the bridge and click on Create user, just wait for 10-15 seconds and then click on button Start search and again wait for 1 minute at least. After that click on SAVE button on right side to save devices and then click Devices on main menu bar and all bulbs that are found will be listed on left side under the Unassigned devices. Number in the Name of device is corresponding to the number of the lamp in Philips HUE application and can be changed to more descriptive name.

The first one with name New Device do not change or delete, It has to stay there in unassigned folder.

Why does it have to be left in the unassigned folder?

Also... I have all my bulbs showing up, and i can control them with the app and web interface. Although, i can't include them in any scenes. It seems like HC2 does not recognize them as lamps?

I use the new hue bridge 2, and i can't get the bulbs added (even with the above outlined blind trick).

It would be great if Fibaro could put some efforts into fixing the Hue plugin. Maybe this error only occurs only with the latest hue bridge?

Many people use hue bulbs and are affected by the plugin.

Hello,

it is possible to use the HUE lamps with a scene, but you must use LUA for it. It does not work with blocks.

These are the main control functions

  fibaro:call("id", "turnOn");
  fibaro:call("id", "changeBrightness", "set value between 0-255");
  fibaro:call("id", "changeSaturation", "set value between 0-255");
  fibaro:call("id", "changeHue", 59697);
  fibaro:call("id", "turnOff");

To get the right color number for the hue:

- go to your hc2 web interface and select your hue device

- change the hue value unitl it matches the color you want, and after you close the window you see the number in the pictorgram that matches the color you selected.

note: only changethe hue value to figure out the color number, because only the last changed value wil be shown in the picogram after you closed the window.

Hi Stenega,

This works great for me, thanks.

The next step is controlling  my Onkyo with scenes so I can make a "Movie" scene.

Because if you delete that one with name "New Device" then you will also delete all others and then you have to do procedure with finding lamps all over again.

I have no idea what could be causing this...

it happened same to me. There is no any feedback after you press "add user" button and search for the lights. Only after dozen times I realized that lights were found after some time and only when I refreshed page after clicking on Devices. They were down on the bottom of the page. Still I prefer more VD over plugin because it gives me more freedom and choices how to control my HUE bulbs.

Hi,

I'm also having trouble getting the Philips Hue plugin to work. (HC2 4.082 Beta and Hue bridge 2.0 firmware 01033370)

I read somewhere online (can't recall where) that they were gonna disable the possibility to "create custom users" on the Hue bridge, maybe that's whats happening?

My debug results on /debug/clip.html:
