Check for zwave network down

Question

Posted
Hello,

since I want to use zwave motion sensor for create a basic alarm system, I need to understand how to detect (with lua code) if some devices (basically all my door/windows and motion sensor) is down due to a network outage (maybe someone are using a zwave jammer ?!?!?)

How to do that ? Is there a way to ping a zwave device to see if it respond or not ?

Thank you very much for any help

No one can help me ?

I can get the status "dead" from a node, but this kind of information seems that isn't in real time.

If I cut off the power from a plug, the device don't turn to "dead" in the same time.

So I need to understand if there is a function that try to talk with a device (without turning it on or turning it off) to update node status. If I do this test for 10 devices, I think I can have the network status.

So the question is : there is a function that can update a node status ?

.......but feel that the alarm panel doesnt cut it.

    What do you mean ?

I'm using alarm with success .....

I write my own alarm_scene that arm sensor that I want to be active.

Then then alarm panel when detect sensor breach turn on Sirene and send notification.

I've got my scene for disarm sensor : when all sensors are disarmed the alarm panel switch off.

WHat is your problem with alarm panel ?

Polling a battery operated device will not work, typical battery operated sensors will be sleeping and only reporting when something is triggered.

At that point it will only send a message ( command class) .

During a wake-up interval the product will communicate battery level ( if programmed) and the product will ask the gateway if there are new settings.
