Hi All,

I've thought about buying a router specifically so that I can use a 3G dongle with it. The reason being that, if someone cut my phoneline I would have no internet and therefore no Fibaro notifications etc.

Has anyone else done this and what are your experiences with a 3G dongle? E.g. What was speed like to access HC2 using one and did your notifications/pushover etc still work ok?

Any advice appreciated.

KR, Dave

PS Would love to use a 4G dongle but can't find a router that supports one in UK at the minute. Lots of boxes say they do but they're worldwide and not necessarily in uk!

Dave, I have this setup with a ASUS RT-AC68U connected to a fiber modem, with failover to a HUAWEI LTE USB modem both at home and at my summer house HC2. The basics works as expected. Further testing this fall postponed due to failure of the HC2 at my beach house. (The HC2 at the moment with Fibaro Poland...)

That's interesting! I've bought a Asus DSL-68U (same as yours but has modem built in). Only difference is, in uk, it doesn't support any 4G dongles (only 3G)!

If they don't upgrade firmware I think I will add the Asus N12 which adds 4G SIM card connectivity...which doesn't have the same issues as with dongles (any micro sim would work).

Thanks for letting me know though. I love the 68U, especially for VPN....I'm getting connection to my HC2 from 4G via VPN in 4 seconds!

    KR, Dave;)
