Fibaro Alarm Panel - monitoring station

Question

Posted

Hi,

does anyone know of a module or any other way in which the Fibaro Alarm panel can be integrated with a monitoring station from a security company?

My current security company uses DTMF to get signals from my wired alarm system through land line and GSM as backup.

I would like to also connect my Fibaro Alarm to their station, but for this I need some way to send DTMF codes over a telephone line or GSM.

Any thoughts?

Regards

My alarm system has input and output contacts (I think 4 or something similar) which are used for siren/lamp etc. It is also possible to get "arm", "disarm", "breach" event from alarm system via those or arm system via it (after you program alarm system itself).

I have put a universal binary sensor there and know when alarm is on, or run an all off scene after arming alarm system.

Most probably you can connect also via those inputs/outputs. Nearly all alarm system has those.

Another option is to connect in parralel universal sensor or relay via siren interface (you need to do it paralel, so wired siren goes on and sensor goes on). When siren goes on you'll receive notification and could run any scene you like. I can share my setup if needed.

I know how to get the state from the wired alarm system using an UBS.  My question is how can integrate the fibaro alarm with a police monitoring station for example.  That means when a fibaro armed sensor is breached the Fibaro HC2 will call a number and transmit some DTMF codes to signal the security guys that they need to intervene asap.

Same way. At my alarm system (Secolink) has 16 zones, and I have one zone configured as relay input. I have UBS on that input, and a door sensor on my safe. That zone is confugured on 24/7 independently from alarm system on or off. when somebody tries to open the safe, a scene turns UBS on, which puts 12v relay on, which is connected to relay input zone on my alarm system. Alarm system then treats that signal as zone "safe" break-in, and turns on alarm, and security company sends patrol to my house.

To add, that zone is configured as silent alarm, so the siren never starts, it's only sending the signal to security dispatch.

I have done it this way because the security company here would only accept those DTMF codes or whatever only from their device, which they put in my home and connect it to my alarm central. They are not allowing to connect to it any other device, and they would not accept a call from other number.

If you have an empty zone you could try to see the manual or ask the alarm system provider if you can put a relay or 0-10 v on that zone and how it will be treated by alarm system. That way you don't need the DTMF or similar. Of course the setups could differ a lot, so I hope my experience helps.

That is an ideea. My security company accepts calls from other numbers. Currently i'm using land line + GSM backup on my own numbers.

So the clean and normal way would be to have some box/device that can call a monitoring station if the HC2 senses a breach.

Well, then you most probably can use something like GSM intercom with one or two buttons (if you use 2 buttons you can preprogram different DTMF on same number.

Remove the buttons, put UBS instead, preprogram phone number and DTMF, and here you go. UBS will emulate button press, and intercom will perform a call together with DTMF to a security company.

I wonder if there is a Zwave GSM intercom. Would eliminate the need of a UBS and make - hopefully - the integration easier.

    not sure, never needed one.

You should look either for gsm intercom or gsm auto dialer, those are usually used in alarm system. But if your security company is unable to process sms then do research before you buy to make sure autodialer would do calls, not only sms. My assumption would be that intercom is more expensive. But if you get autodialer you could program it to call to security company and send sms to you simultaneously.
