Hi I'm new to fibaro so bare with me

Basically ive been given two different modules for lights , ones a dimmer two module and ones a relay module .

The lights are non dimable in a his unit so ive installed a relay . Question is it doesn't work . I've got a 3 core down to the switch , live in , neutral in , switch line back in terminal Q . Then two cores comes out from S1 and IN to switch .

I know this is correct as ive done them on led strips .

If I change to a dimmer module it works . But when I turn it off it still flickers .

If I buypass the module completely ot works

Does it need to hVe a certain wattage on the fiaro for it to work on the relays because I only have about 8 watts on it as its only controlling 2 lights .

Hopefully someone can help many Tha ka

Hi,

I've been given a fair bit of help here so will try and give a bit back.

You don't say if its a double relay or a single but the connections are similar. with a double you just use one side) - you also dont say if it is fibaro unit but I assume yes since we are on a Fibaro forum  :->

There are lots of diagrams on the internet but there is good one at

L & N feeds to the switch go to L & N on the relay (connections 1 & 2 on the relay)

Connect a link between L (connection 2) and IN (connection 3) - this provides the feed for the Q1/Q2 outputs

Q1 or Q2 connect to the light (bulb)

S1 or S2 go to the wall switch

The Q1/S1 part of the relay is essentially inserted between the switch and the light bulb

Your standard toggle or on/off switch will work here

Check your connections - I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning as there can be a lot of wires in the wall space.

For a dimmer

Again there are good diagrams on the fibaro website but here you do need to think about the switch

A standard toggle or on/off will work but is very clumsy

A better option is a momentary switch (like a bell push) - push once and hold to dim or brighten, push and hold again to do the opposite

A better again option is a 2 way retractive switch (like a double bell push switch)

- push and hold the top to brighten (or push and release to set to previous level)

- push and hold the bottom to dim (or push and release to set to previous level)

you will need to set the appropriate parameter to say if is momentary, toggle or retractive for the device

hope this help

Yeah that's brilliant . I have 4 circuits all connected in the wall all with a fibaro on . I didn't realise I needed to connect a link between the L terminal and the IN terminal . Thought the fibaro switches between the two as I haven't had to put that link in anywhere else

    no worries

I've try to do as much prep-work before placing the modules in the walls and use strip connectors where I can.

I also 'bench include' the dimmers and relays and as many of the modules as I can because they afre far too fiddly doing this in the wall

The number of wires that end up behind the switch can be confusing and it definitely is worth taking your time and checking everything twice before switching the power back on.

If you use the dimmer you should consider a 2 way retractive switch as it make the experience intuitive

There are bypass units that are to be used with the dimmer for use with 'dimmable led lights' but I've never managed to get them to work. I use either eco-halogen bulbs of regular incandescent bulbs behind my dimmers.
