Fibaro Dimmer 2 limitation

We have several projects.

And only 2-wire connection available for all light sources. So we decided to use Fibaro Dimmer 2 configured as Switch.

We stucked with several interesting problems:

1) We have 400Watt light sources. Halogen lamps.

Is there any amplifiers which able to connect to Fibaro Dimmer 2 in order increase power?

Is it really possible with 2 wire connection?

2) We have vacuum fans (30 Watt).

We aren't able to control motors with Fibaro Dimmer 2. I guess consumption is very big on start, and dimmer turns off.

Hi Roman,

Question 1: I don't think so

Question 2: Minimum load is 50 Watt so 30W is too little. The Bypass-2 will solve that problem.

2) I am interested that people say the bypass will fix the issue with low wattage circuits. I still have 5 brand new bypass modules sitting in my cupboard as when I tried connecting them to sort out low wattage circuits they made no difference.

Interestingly and I am sorry this does not help, but upgrading from dimmer 1 to dimmer 2 actually resolved this issue. I now have single Philips Dimtones (8 watt from memory) working just fine.

Is there a reason you are using dimmers on the fans, rather than relays?

    Thank you for help!

Yes, we have 2 wire connection everywhere in this house. So only dimmers could be connected.

Do you have ideas why when I connect 5 Osram LED lamps to dimmer it turns off when I set 80..100%. It works correctly when I set 0..79%.

What exactly means error: Voltage Drop/Drift. Reduce the maximum brightness level?

    Could you explain?

If you are willing to check device manual, there is simple explanation about this error and clear solution to your case...

Quick answer -> Lower value of parameter 2.

Another solution -> connect a bypass and calibrate the device again (by setting parameter 13 to 2). 5 OSRAM LEDs probably do not meet minimal power requirements for using them without a bypass in 2 wire connection.

Yup, a new calibration makes a big difference.

And afterwards you always can change the levels manually if needed.

And I have no experience with the Dimmer 1 combined with the Bypass 1

but the Dimmer 2 and Bypass 2 works fine with low loads like led bulbs

According to my observation Dimmer2 behaves very unpredictable at the slightest changes in the AC-network parameters while connected in 2-wire connection mode.
    Even with a bypass-2.

IMHO more robust solution - to use Relay Switch near controlled device + wall remote controller.
