Question

Hi,

My Netatmo rain gauge is showing 1.6 mm/h in the Netatmo app. At the same time my Fibaro HCL is showing 0.7 mm/h. My Fibaro is consistently showing approximately half of the actual value.

Is there any way to calibrate the value within Fibaro?

Thanks,

Erik

There is nothing to "calibrate". The reason for the difference is the (wrong) usage of the Netatmo API. The API can be asked to return the last measurement, or the cumulative rain in a defined time interval. Fibaro probably asks simply for last measurement, which would be the rain intensity during the last 10 min, I think. The correct way is to ask for cumulative rain ("sum_rain") during the last hour ("1hour"). You can not do anything about it, only Fibaro can fix the issue, which would be very simple btw.

It's not raining a lot, so few measurments at the moment.

I think something else is wrong in the api. I've got a few readings on netatmo of 0.1 mm and they show up in the fibaro events as 0>0.1 mm, correct so to speak.

This morning there were 2 readings of 0.1 mm on netatmo 10 minutes apart) and only the last reading shows up in fibaro events. So the plugin is missing api calls. On netatmo you can export the details reading in excel, tha graphs cummulate the detail readings.

Let's wait for some more rain today

This is what happened around noon:

- Netatmo reports at 12:05, 12:06 and 12:11 3 rain readings: 2mm, 1mm and 1mm.

- Fibaro reports just 1: 12:15 0:00 > 0.10

My guess is that Fibaro polls every 10min and just reads the last Netatmo reading via the API, and it should read the summary/total of the polling interval.

I think that you can only use the rain gauge to have an indication that it rained in the past polling interval. You should forget, as fibaro does
