All LEDs on front panel stay on

Question

Posted

Wheneever I need to restart my HC2, it goes through the process of the lights lighting up one at a time. When it gets to all 8 lights lit up, it stays like that for ages (often > 1hr) before sometimes dropping down to 3 lights and starting to work. Other times I need to restart and hope it works after waiting another hour.

I am having the same issue now when trying to get in to recovery mode. Any suggestions?

Hi, im wondering the same thing.

I just had this problem today at a customers house.

For me removing the USB recovery stick made the HC2 start perfectly.

But I can't put it back, then the boot up fails..

So for a temp solution, remove the USB recovery stick.

Anyone know how to fix it properly?

Thanks - managed to fix mine properly now.

I took the USB drive out to back it up and noticed it was a bit flaky; sometimes Windows/OSX wasn't seeing it, other times it was. Data transfer speed was really slow too.

So I made a clone of it. Note, you can't just copy files you actually need to clone it to get the bootable stuff too (use free tool imageUSB by PassMark Software)

It took hours to copy an image of the USB drive due to data speeds being so low. But just minutes to write the copy to a new USB drive.

I've plugged in my new USB drive and it works perfectly again. Even booting into recovery mode without a problem.

    Ah lucky you!

I tried to make a clone but there is an error in 1 file so i can't.

The recovery usb is now dead due to this.

Hmm writing this now i wonder...

Is there a possibility that i can get that file from a different usb drive and replace that file in the image from the broken thumb drive..

    Ill try that..

    Speedy, keep us informed...

The Recovery Stick is absolutely HC2's weakest point. It is understood by reading all forum messages.

I have successfully repaired my Recovery Stick once (by cloning) .

But now there have been problems with the Recovery Stick again and it is now so defective that it can not longer be repaired.

Many sectors on the USB-unit are so damaged so it is impossible to read or write.

According Fibaro I have to send the whole HC2 unit to Poland for sercive. It's idiotic, stupid and very expensive to do that.

Fibaro should make a different on-line system for back-up and recovery.

Probably all HC2 owners (sooner or later) have to send their units it to Poland for service which is a completely idiotic.

Another option rather than sending to Poland is that they post a new USB drive and you then open a team viewer window and they remotely change things so you HC will accept the new USB

Is it an option thats available from Fibaro side or is it a suggestion to Fibaro?

I don't see why this shouldn't work fine as a great solution if we don't get to use any USB drive we want.

    A different option:

Fibaro could make a "Create Fibaro USB Recovery Stick" software.

Start it up on your network, select the affected HC and the software then makes a new recover USB and syncs to Fibaro servers.

I found a better solution: bought smartthings.

Haven't looked back. Wish I did it ages ago.
