I have a Universal Binary Sensor. It's wired up to the output of a Neo Heatmiser Thermostat (non z-wave device).

I have a scene set up so that when the sensor is triggered, it turns on a Fibaro Relay to turn on the heating

This all works beautifully when the HC2 is working. But of course when the HC2 is down the scene doesn't run so no heating!

I understand I should be able to get around this by using associations - ie, having the sensor talk directly to the relay.

But I really can't work out how.

I've gone to the sensors advanced settings and added the ID of the relay in association group 2 and saved it. But it doesn't seem to have any effect on the relay when the sensor is triggered and the HC2 is off or scene disabled.

I'm sure I'm missing a configuration step.

Can anyone provide any pointers?

As an aside, I assume that once this is working then, as the scene is also running, the relay will get told twice to turn on (or off) which shouldn't be a problem (scene does some other non-essential stuff like setting a global variable to say the heating is on)

And to confirm, Parameters 5 & 6 of the Sensor are set to 255 Command Frame BASIC_SET
