Netatmo Rain Gauge

Question

Posted

I have been searching the forum on the Netatmo Rain gauge and it appears as though the plugin only supports updates every 10 minutes, whereas Netatmo reports every 5 minutes. Is this still correct or has something changed in later releases?

I ask because I want a responsive rain gauge to close a skylight (and windows) if it starts raining, however 10 minutes or even 5 minutes is just too long. The corridors will be soaked in 5 minutes if it starts to rain.

In that scenario, I would rather trust a rain sensor or flood sensor as it can react instantly rather then wait 5-10 mins.. Can you place a flood sensor on the roof by any chance??

Someone on here made a real time rain sensor by getting a rain sensor and connecting to an RGBW I think

    yeah, been there, done that.

I have a rain sensor that reports changes in intensity. only problem is that it is installed on my roof and I found out afterwards that you need to clean the surface regularly otherwise it does what my sensor is doing now which is report nonsense.

short answer is: don't install it on your roof, despite what everyone tends to say, unless you can access your roof VERY easily, better to install it on ground level somewhere where you can walk up to it and wipe it clean every now and then.

@Raj, nice idea about the flood detector, only thing is that I don't think it's waterproof. I will have to think of a way of covering it but having the water run over the sensor... using the probe will do the trick.

@amilanov Hi there, I had a question about the rain gauge. What did you use to integrate it to the fibaro interface because the stock fibaro plugin doesn't work and I haven't found any scene yet to bee only for the rain gauge and that it works for me. Thank you very much!
