Universal Sensor installed in alarm PIR goes dead.

I've fitted a universal sensor in an alarm system PIR and it reports movement without any problems. 
Its got 12v power from the PIr and wired to ground and input1.

After a few minutes it reports as dead but will connect when clicked on. Is there a way to keep it live?

    i've found the power supplied by the alarm system dips below the required voltage when the system hasn't been active for a while. 
    But as soon as motion is detected the sensor comes back to life when the correct voltage is applied and seems to be working fine like that.
