Door Lock Sensor

Has anyone found a way to show if a door is locked? I've set up a wire and spring connected to the door/window sensor terminals to show when the latch is locked into position but its not always reliable.
Looking for some sort of small switch to activate when the latch in closed.

I used a recessed door sensor from aeotec

Removed the reed switch and connected a microswitch in the lock.

Thats just what I'm looking to do, can you give me more info on the microswitch? what type did you get and how did you attach it too the lock

I used a microswith i had just laying around and used a regular glue gun to fasten it.

It looks like this (not so pretty but works)
