I'm trying to set up a RGBW-controller with temperature sensors. I configured the controller on output/input-modus as mentioned in the manual. Also I followed the wiring diagram fig 8. I used a 12v adapter (2A). The sensor cable yellow is connected to input1, the red cable is connected to 12v (+) and the black cable to GND(-). The controller works fine.

Then something strange happend: the temperature sensor gets very hot and after a few minutes it exploded... I've tried several sensors (ds18b20 waterproof) and tried a new controller but still the same issue. Of course I didn't wait untill the next sensor exploded because the metal part hit the wall very hard (I was lucky...). The sensor gets very hot.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help!

Hi, you cannot use DS18B20 with RGBW modules. They work with 3V and do not give output 0-10V. You need to use Fibaro unversal sensor with DS18B20 sensors!

Thanks for your answer. Do you know which temperature sensors do work with the rgbw controller? Otherwise I will have to use 2 universal sensors to monitor 4 temperatures.

You could use a 0-10V temperature sensor for example the LM35

    10mV/Deg C

To monitor 4 temperatures you'll need only one binary sensor and four DS18B20 they are workning on "one wire" interface.

Thanks Bryan, but which binary sensor do I need? I want to monitor 4 temperatures with waterproof sensors. I bought some RGBW controllers but that doesn't work with ds18b20 sensors.

Edit: I've read the manual of the universal sensor and I read about the option to connect 4x ds18b20 sensors.

But are all 4 temperatures available? Or only the higest or lowest temperature of all 4 sensors?

I use FGMs-001 and four DS18B20+ to control the climate in my greenhouse.

Four sensors to measure the temperature of the ceiling, the floor, the outdoor temperature and the temperature of fanregulator.
