Hi,

I have my Fibaro Dimmer 2 paired with my Vera Edge.  The dimmer is also connected to LED spotlights with a total load of 96 W; however, the dimmer isn't dimming.  It's only giving me on/off functionality- any suggestions?

How long are the wires connected to S1? And could you please tell us the values of parameters 1,2,5,6,7,8,14,30,31,32,33,34 because they tell a lot about the configuration. Maybe try p13=1 to force a new calibration. BTW all the parameters are in the manual.

    Hi,

There aren't any wires connected to S1 as I've cancelled the physical switch.  I've tried recalibration with no luck- I have installed it without the N wire- would that have any effect?

Please try with N attached (diagram marked "3-wire setup" in the manual).

    Eureka!

You are not the first person to silently ignore my request: "the values of parameters 1,2,5,6,7,8,14,30,31,32,33,34"... I've always wondered why! It's an hones (and important) question! But now I've got one of those "eureka!" moments...

It's because I didn't explain *WHY* I need them, isn't it? You think: "I didn't mess with those parameters (yet) - why should I respond to that question?" and "Surely they are all at their default values? Why waste time on telling the obvious?".

But they are not at their default... You see... "calibration" means the dimmer tries to determine optimal values for some parameters, by pulsing/stepping its output and measuring the response of the load. So, because you and I have a different loads, we end up with different paramaters! And that's why I'd like to know them... For example, in your case this will be interesting in particular: "33. Dimmability of the load (read only)" and 0 means "Load recognized as dimmable".

    Does this help?

or.... the vera doesn't support the dimmer 2 yet

Last time i tried Dimmer 2 with Vera g150 (basicly vera edge in white box) i had there 3 devices (3 slaves of Dimmer 2) and extra slaves for power measurre, that i could control. But only one (first one) was functional.

I had there 40 Watt standard bulb and i actualy was able to dim it. But basicly until MiOS (OS in Vera Edge) will support it, there will be always some issue.

Hahaha...Peter, I face this kind of situation day in day out at work. I call this generation gap. In this era, most people just dunno how to get help properly but expect others to mysteriously be able to mind read or see through their eyes.

Must be the education system nowadays...not teaching the 3W1H or is it 4W1H. In case someone is puzzled what it means - Why, What, When, Who, How. It is the mother of problem solving skill.

I would have suffer a stroke by now if I have not learnt to just ignore those who doesn't seek help properly.
