Why does this scene not activate and run at set time??

Question

Posted

Hi

I have the attached scene which I was hoping to get it to run at 10AM and 10PM everyday. The purpose of the scene is to check if the weather forecast is Rain or Storm. If it is, then it should press the button on device 120 (which is a Virtual Device to delay the sprinkler system by 24 hours and send me an email to inform me of that. If not, it should just send me an email with the weather status. I want the scene to run on time as well as if manually started.

However, the scene is not doing anything for me. Any help with debugging this would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Raj

Your scene is triggered when it is saved or HC restarted thanks to %%autostart in header and if that does not happen at exact time nothing will happen.

Also I am not sure that scene will be triggered by

%% properties

3 WeatherConditionConverted

but if yes then you don't need to check time because it is very unlikely that change of weather will happen exactly at 10AM or 10PM so either remove time condition so that change of weather delays sprinklers and sends message or remove %%properties trigger and make scene to loop and every minute check time and when is exactly 10AM or 10PM then check weather condition and do stuff accordingly.

LUA is very powerful on HC2 and gives us more options than blocks but too many conditions could lead to non working scenes.

The best approach to time events is to make one main scene which loops endlessly and checks current time and then calls other scenes at wanted time.
