Heating via Danfloss and Fibaro

Question

Posted

Hi,

I have the following:-

1.       Fibaro HC2

2.       Fibaro relay (connected to boiler)-

3.       Danfloss Valve

4.       Fibaro Light/Motion Sensor.

I want zone by zone heating in the house. At the moment I am trying to get the Lounge working and possibly once that’s working move on with the rest of the house.

I have created a heating panel (for the lounge) I have set the main thermostat in the lounge to be (Danfloss), main temperature sensor (fibaro temp sensor).

Now I have couple of questions:-

1.       What is the scene I have to write so that the boiler relay is turned on? For example the room, at the moment is at 22deg, the panel is set at 25 deg. So how do I make the boiler relay “On”. Also, for example, if the room is 18 deg and the panel is 15deg and I change the temperature on the danfloss (via the HC2) to 25 deg. How will the above scene cope? Hope I have been clear here.

2.       Now if I do multiple rooms i.e. living/dining/bedroom. I see there is no “Or” gate to enable the boiler relay. So if one room calls for heat and the relay is on, what happens when the another room says I have reached the temperature and turns off the boiler? Can you let me know of the appropriate scene for this as well please?

From my research on the forum, the answer to the second part of the question, is maybe have multiple relays, which i think will make this too expensive.

Please if possible can any of the solutions be wrt to non LUA solutions. Screen shots or picture of scenes as well if possible please. Sorry i have no clue about LUA.

Thanks,

Akash

Use linked device panel

    Thanks for the reply Momos, sorry i am very new to Fibaro and Z-wave.

    I looked into the linked device, so the options are :

    what is main temp sensor & what relay triggers the boiler.

    Have i got the logic right:-

    So the heating panel says it should be 20 deg then the sensor knows this and if the temp falls below 20 it triggers the boiler relay- am i right? The heating panel will talk to the sensor automatically?

    So how does the danfloss know what temp is required and when to open and close?

    Sorry if i sound very ignorant. But really pulling my hair here!

    Thanks again for taking time to reply!

    You will need a relay per room... or 2*1.5kw for 2 rooms then wire then all parallel to each other or it will flicker on and off

    And Fibaro motion sensor does not update temp quick enough... you might struggle! Binary sensor and Dallas is better!

    Hi
    Have been following this thread, I have not tried to use connected devices before.
    I've tried to add a temperature sensor, and wall plug to an electric radiator.
    How do I set the temperature on and off?
    I guess I can not use the conditions here?
    Thanks in advance.

    Linked devices basically makes one device from a temp sensor and a relay/wall plug.  Then you have to set the heating panel for the respective room; that will take care of the on and off.

    Thanks, I will try.

    Thanks for the replies.

    The whole Fibaro heating system (without LUA) seems very clunky & unreliable.

    Can any one please suggest a Z-wave radiator valve, that i can send a command to Open/Close? Thanks

    Use an actuator instead with a relay that works quite well

    Hi
    I did not appear to heat the panel is flexible enough.
    I've made a few basic scenes that you might use. They look a bit like my own system.
    It should work as you describe.
    If it can be used, I will help you put a stop as the scene only runs once.
    Og = and
    Så = then
    Eller =or
    Fjv peltier = your switch

    ive done this and actually got it to work with 1 relay connected to the boiler. 1 fibaro multi sensor per room and 1 danfoss per room.

    the multi sensor parameters changed to report back every 5 mins or 1 deg change in temp, so it doesnt use too much battery life.

    i then created a 11 variables to represent the 11 zones, and created a scene that if any room needed heat it would change the variable to 'on'. i then created a further scene which basically said if 'any' of the variables are 'on' then switch boiler on. if all the variables are marked as 'off' then switch off the boiler.

    regards the scenes on a room by room basis i just set a timing schedule with a  temperature set-point per room for the danfoss and the multi  sensor to measure it has been achieved.

    i then added some global variables so that it didnt turn the heating on in the middle of the night. I no longer use this myself as the family wouldnt keep all the doors closed in the house so my multi-zone became 1 big zone but code worked...

    PS its rather long...

    When using the heating panel, do you need to link the same relay that turns on the kettle to different rooms? Now I have linked the relay together with a multisensor in my living room and it seems to work for the living room. Haven't tried yet for the bedrooms/bathrooms.

    If this really works, I can order another 10 or more danfoss valves.

    OR is it better to use multiple relays, like Supernode suggests?

    Thx for your ideas on this!
