Dimmer with momentary wall switch connection

Freebird

Question

1182

Hello everyone,

I'd like to add a dimmer on lights, that are operated with several momentary wall switches (bushbuttons).

I do not really understand the wiring diagram in the user guide on fibaro.com.

Do I need to install the dimmer module right at the relay in the fuse panel or is it possible to connect it at a momentary switch?

The diagram shows the connection of lines to the S1 and Sx port. But WHAT lines (L, N)? Where do they go on the "other" end?

Thanks for your help!

Frank

Hello,

Please, use this link

This is a manual for Dimmer 2. You can find all necessary information about installation there.

I guess you already read the manual? You should use the sx/s1 in parallel with all buttons and complete with N, l and output too.

Thanks for your reply! Exactly, I read the manual and as there are no symbols/letters at the diagram I am not sure how to connect. Is it as follows (see attached diagram)?

Not sure what the electrical laws are in Germany, but I'd recommend getting an electrician to install the dimmer for you...

Anybody from Fibaro who could give me an answer on the correct wiring?

Here is a wiring diagram that will give you a starting point

It is for the old dimmer but you need to remember that O is now the funny symbol which is the output. Basically you can string numerous momentary switches together as long as all of the switched live outputs from the switches are common

If you are unsure of what you are doing though you really should get an electrician to do the job

Thank you very much for the wiring diagram!

Just one question: Any reason you are showing the dimmer bypass in the wiring? I thought it is only to use to eliminate flickering with very low current LEDs(?)

Don't worry, the whole thing is installed and working - I just want to add the Fibaro dimmer. I've done that on numerous "normal" switches - but without the string of momentary switches that confuse me:-)

I should manage now with your diagram!

    Thanks again!
