Aeotec Multisensor 6 vs. Fibaro Motion 3.2 and 2.7 lux difference

tinman

Question

one of our customer got some strange values with Aeotec Multisensor 6, so i did checked it for him once again , but with brand new Aeotec MS6 sensor fw 1.7, and as well brand new Fibaro Motion v3.2. Just in case, added as well Fibaro Motion v2.7. Test system is HC2 with v4.083 (the customer tested with 4.080 and 4.082 before)

All sensors are set to report every 5 sec, with 10lux threshold. Where Fibaro is reporting ~1050lux, Aeotec is reporting only 483lux.

With different light intensity, Fibaro Motions reports ~221 lux where Aeotec only 70lux.

Did someone else have same experience with Aeotec?

Yes, this is normal and been so with Aeotec MultiSensor 6 firmware v1.06 and Fibaro Motion Sensor (non-zwave plus) firmware 2.6 and 2.7. I have not done comparison with newer firmwares - MS6 v1.07/1.08 vs FGMS001 v2.8.

I have to adjust my scenes which use MS6 to different lux level to compensate for the discrepancy. I noticed Aeotec firmware 1.07 did mention about fix to lux and other sensor readings. Without Home Center support for OTA firmware update for 3rd party devices yet, I need to consider whether to buy a z-stick just to be able to update Aeotec devices (not too many I currently have).

  • have just edited my posting above: yes, i knew it these lux issues with v1.6, but i thought with v1.7 these were fixed, what a crap.

regards OTA, you need hex/bin firmware from Aeotec to run it with Fibaro fw update service, so you will have to "extract it" hehe, it is easier to use zwave stick.

Oh, MS6 v1.07 firmware still exhibit large discrepancy?
